Is there a video or a gif of the moment when Ion Izagirre was blown away? That was quite spectacular to witness.

Amazing how Demare was able to bridge the Allaphilippe attack. I would never bet a penny on that. Kudos to him. it looks like he can be a real deal this year.

I really like that he kept going when Allaphilippe asked him to go. Probably he told him he did not care for the stage but GC. Who knows. Anyway he got me today.

No surprise Contador got dropped after such a tough stage, let's see his real shape later this week. He did say before the stage he caught a cold. Anyway, for the GC it's Henao vs Alaphilippe vs Porte, even if Contador is strong he won't close these gaps. It's 20s too many to each of them.
he always has an excuse ready

wow... 50th place 11 minutes down.

RE: Gallopin to win...
How is Gallopin going to hold off a 39 second lead over Porte? He could lose that in the TT alone and be over 2 minutes behind after the MTF. Alaphilippe has a much better chance IMO

That would be mighty impressive from Porte, or for anyone else, to achieve that.

But I concur, Alaphilippe climbs better than Gallopin at the moment and his smartness alone will probably not be enough to hold Porte, Zakarin or Contador in the climbs.

I don't know about that. I would say that Gallopin is probably the better TT-ist compared to Alaphillipe. In terms of climbing there's not a lot of distance between them. Gallopin's got a bigger engine and Alaphillipe is slightly more punchy. I doubt Porte will gain a lot, if anything in the ITT.

Gallopin would have a chance if he has his Tour 2015 form (first two weeks), but he probably doesn't and trained less in the mountains this winter so no chance at all.

Gallopin can defend himself well. He can even gain time on some stages. Thinking Nice like a couple years ago.

Alaphilippe is Rebellin. Gallopin is Di Luca.

Gallopin is a bit more versatile although both are punchy riders. He should be better in the TT and on the steady climbs.

When did Rebellin win a mountainous stage race? If all Alaphilippe is Furlan and might become Jalabert!

Edith realized. But in fact that underlines Alafpolak shouldn't be underestimated. He was 6th at the Dauphine last year, won AToC and still improves as a young rider!

It was just the ATOC.

No offense, but both comparisons are off.

I saw Bardet hold onto the rear window and took a sling forward from his car (no mechanic visible) and I wondered if anyone else saw that too.

For real though. He is Mr. 2nd place it seems ... but still only 24. His time will come. At least he tries his luck at moments like today. That is way more entertaining than most of Gerrans wins for example ;)

Everyone going on about Allaphilippe & Gallopin as if Henao and Dan Martin not in the race

Both Martin & Henao will finish in front of the 2 Frenchmen on GC because the TT is not long and is hilly and because they are much much better climbers

This. People are talking about the TT like it's a 40k flat one. And they are both top 10 climbers, Alaphilippe/Gallopin are not.

And Martin and Henao are likely to drop the rest on stage 6. Don't know if the frenchmen are going to survive the penultimate climb.
