It's just indicative of this generation's obsession with safety and making things "politically correct".

First time I've ever heard someone name "this generation" (not sure if that's current riders who are gen z or Adam Hansen who is a geriatric millennial) as obsessed with safety.

However I have noticed in all generations a tendency to mask ulterior motives with an appeal to "safety", e.g. old men on group rides who want you to slow down so they don't get dropped 🤣

The desdain is actually for the idea that the time before helmets, when breaking heads was easier to do, is somehow a superior time.

Go up thread and see where I specified my intention was not to "glorify the past", even Red admited she misunderstood me. The intention was to gain some perspective from a cycling past that was different, perhaps for those who lived it better in some ways, worse in others, but different. However, it's a history that anyone with open mind would want to come to terms with to gain some critical insight into the dynamics of current cycling issues and debates.

As always a great look on all the sectors from a local, who checked them today.

At sector 8b he differs a lot from ASO.

It's short, sure, but 2 stars is a load of rubbish. It's uglier than Le Blocus. It's a worse building site than Haveluy or Sars-et-Rosières. It's this sector alone that made me cut the scouting in half this year, because I was desperate not to pass it after heavy rain. Despite this, I still wondered why I was in the middle of it. There's no trajectory, just holes (and puddles) everywhere. A little bonus this year: the descent and the curve take a runner straight out of the pavement and straight into a gigantic pile of manure.

At sector 8b he differs a lot from ASO.

very interesting, and I already could predict the much higher rating of e.g. Haveluy and Moulain de Vertain, given the crazy amount of rain we had this winter in the region of N-France / Belgium).
The lower rating of Mons-en-Pevele surprises me a bit, as I don't particularly find the uphill section + the cobbles after the curve very enjoyable, especially in wet conditions.
