OK tinman, how do we get rid of those names?

I see tinman has been piloting the twitter account and is telling people we didn't post those names..... hopefully that makes it clear that it is not our doing....were on it!

Fascinating seeing who is trying to talk people out of participating. Just fascinating.

Edit: tinman is in the forum website now, hopefully figuring out how to delete the signatures.

If we cant delete them for some reason, we can edit the contents to say that those names have been put there fradulently...or whatever it is the right word. Obviously will be talking to CN and RR about what is acceptable to them in terms of retraction.

For the record, let me say that I do not blame the petition organizers in any way.

I assumed it was forum related, since Dan and I were the only CN names used, and we are virtually the only two CNers active in the forum.

I may be a big fish here, but believe me, I am a very small fish in the overall CN pond.

I disagree. Should we launch a petition on that?

Online petitions don't work, this is a simple fact. I didn't try and talk anybody out of participating, if it feels good to do it, carry on.

This is my first, and quite possibly last post. I'm just posting for the record that I, Rachel Earnshaw, of Fanling, HK, who has been a cycling fan since um my teens in the 80's and relies on The Clinic to keep my perspective on the sport I love was indeed among the first ten to sign the petition and will do so again in whatever format you choose. I make my living outside cycling but damn it all, I don't want any of our kids to have to dope to succeed. We need a real sporting body that allows all people capable of competing to do so on their own and coaches' merits, rather than the doc with the needle.
Those who tried to make the petition worthless with their impersonations should think about the world they make for their kids. I know, typical mom. :D and proud of it.

for the record, i signed.

and i do not discourage others from signing (every little bit does help, imo)... but the fact that it has been compromised had to be addressed.

Thanks!

I was also among the first ten, and very proud of it.

A few minutes ago, the number of contributors to the Kimmage fund stood at 125 and the number of people signing the petition stood at 185.

One is free, the other averaging $37.

This suggests that there has been very little fooling around with the petition, and that the vast majority of commitments are sincere.

Dave.

i think we're doing great folks. I also think we know where the dark forces are coming from, perhaps more on that later...

for now we have 193! people posting their support on the petition itself. Apart from the numbers we have some wonderful verbatims also that express the frustrations of people.

and 'I Watch Cycling in July' has done a sensational job building twitter outreach that is clearly paying off.

IT's a signal we're trying to make, a signal it's time for change.

Thanks again, keep spreading the word, and don't forget your local cycling clubs etc!

Relax guys - get the names taken off and proceed. Give it a bit of time on twitter and see what happens. If it becomes redundant, ah well. Don't get off the horse before the first hurdle.

Exactly! and it's amazing how a simple initiative like this quickly identifies where people stand...

Forum members here are not stupid, they will work it out quickly enough.

Can you clear that up please? Who did that.
Because 2 other posters have commented and I feel I must also - I would not attempt to talk anyone out of signing.

But as mentioned - petitions will do little. The UCI is not a democracy - 50 signatures 5000 signatures, Pat & Hein wont care.

I do think cycling is at an important point, and that there is genuine anger and frustration from the cycling community - I am not even sure what the solution may be, but I believe that posters here would have some good ideas.

Dr Maserati - now is not the time or place. No one is being accused of anything. Some people want to create a petition and see if it can gain some traction. End Of.

Its not about who signs or not just a group wanting to try something. I think it may work. If it doesn't we can open another thread open to more ideas. Your input will be important then.

If you don't like online petitions - cool. There will be more opportunities.

I saw that the short information about the petition was translated to French.
I assume that it won't help a lot but if you feel like using it, here is this piece in Polish.

W kolarstwie ostatnio źle się dzieje. Wszystko z powodu toczących się spraw dopingowych, braku realnej odpowiedzialności i zarzutów wobec czołowych postaci Międzynarodowej Unii Kolarskiej (UCI) o niedopuszczalne ingerencje w kwestiach badań antydopingowych.

Ale aby to przyniosło skutek, potrzebujemy Waszej pomocy.

Dziękujemy.

@UCI_overloard also started #ResignMcQuaid after his excellent article suggesting how the UCI can improve. It got some attention too. I think use whichever existing ones you think are best.

Edit: Hi Baldwin, thanks for your enthusiasm but we will need to vet anything in a foreign language before we can put it on the petition. Unfortunately neither of us speak polish and the forum's long term polish speakers are not hear to help us any more. So it will take a while.
