From a hype perspective, honestly it’d be through the roof if he podiumed or won with some stage wins.I have no idea, but is a possibility according to Plugge.

you don't announce yourself when you're about to shock the world at the TourCrickets after less than productive early season.. Maybe he is Mallorca doing secret training with the alien
Nope. Not recovered. Will damage his psyche if he goes as leader (while hurt) and gets smashed by Teddy Pants. The fishmonger will be the leader, and better look to the starlist of Dauphine.....a surprise can happen.
Wout isn't in shape at all, see Tour of Norway.Kuss's season plans are probably still up in the air. I assume that No.1 goal was to be primary lieutenant for Vingegaard at Tour. Let's be honest, if JV had a great Tour and was feeling good he would go for the Vuelta, too, and not just to help Kuss defend.
At the moment, Visma-LAB's Tour plans are also probably still uncertain. if JV is ready, then Plan A continues. If not, maybe Plan B (Wout as monster stage hunter/green jersey). Plan C is probably Kuss as GC, hoping for Top 5 but likely a Top 10. That's not ideal bc while me love GC Kuss, I'm also a realist about last year's Vuelta.
I thought that I saw a picture of him training in the USA recently...Crickets after less than productive early season.. Maybe he is Mallorca doing secret training with the alien
Crickets?Crickets after less than productive early season.. Maybe he is Mallorca doing secret training with the alien
Didn't even ride back up the mountainCrickets?
looks like he's been plenty busy to me
He is listed to race Dauphine TDF and Vuelta. The training landscape has completely changed in @ 5 years. Race days used to be considered essential volume are now less and less considered necessary. He might very well be the leader of Visma going into TDF
Farmers are so much harder and grittier than the guys who moaned about cold weather at the Giro...Nope. Not recovered. Will damage his psyche if he goes as leader (while hurt) and gets smashed by Teddy Pants.
Fishboy will be at the Vuelta smashing farmers like Teddy the last few weeks
You mean the farmers who have HVAC and HEPA systems in their enclosed tractor cabs?Farmers are so much harder and grittier than the guys who moaned about cold weather at the Giro...
Agreed on both counts, tho I just can’t see Matteo as a GT contender…yet.Wout isn't in shape at all, see Tour of Norway.
I do think Matteo would be better than Kuss.
To be fair to GC Kuss, dude was on his 3 grand tour of the season.Kuss's season plans are probably still up in the air. I assume that No.1 goal was to be primary lieutenant for Vingegaard at Tour. More intervals and power work. He'd need to improve his TT...alot. His endurance is pretty much natural and he recovers well. It's a basic thing: get faster.I would assume that before the season began, his personal main goal was defense of the Vuelta, but after the Vingegaard accident, did that all change?
If so, did his training plan get altered? Would he prepare differently for the TDF if he was the GC leader rather than as a domestic who's primary goal was the Vuelta later in the year?
The difference is in the selection of events. The Giro can be a wet, cold mess for days. Breaking up the efforts is probably for specific development but I don't know what success it will yield.I was looking at Kuss's PCS points for early last season.
He had 14 race days and 159 points before staring the 2023 Giro.
No Giro for him this year.
He has 21 race days and 156 points heading into the 2024 Dauphine
It doesn't seem like a big difference to me.

Kuss will be interesting to watch in Dauphine since he usually rides into form later into the Tour. And his lack of riding for GC in these type of races in general.Reading in between the lines, Visma already hinting Sepp and Matteo could be leading the Tour squad and is hence important they achieve something at Dauphiné.
Which lines are that? I think you're over interpretating Regardless of who's leading at the Tour I'd say Visma is pressed for results in most races with the year they're having.Reading in between the lines, Visma already hinting Sepp and Matteo could be leading the Tour squad and is hence important they achieve something at Dauphiné.
2023 was extraordinary. even for Visma.Which lines are that? I think you're over interpretating Regardless of who's leading at the Tour I'd say Visma is pressed for results in most races with the year they're having.
Also sounds as if he has been sick recentlyKuss will be interesting to watch in Dauphine since he usually rides into form later into the Tour. And his lack of riding for GC in these type of races in general.
“They are in good form. Sepp [Kuss] had a few days last week when he was not 100% feeling fit but the really hard days are still far away so we are hopeful that they will do well,” Niermann said.
