Nothing wild about 120 rpm out of the saddle accelerations followed by in the saddle 800 watt anaerobic intervals with FTP as recovery.

Nothing at all. Fairly routine stuff if you've practised it in the wind tunnel beforehand.

Exactly. The haters must getting desperate, hating on Froome for a routine attack. He put in the hard work in training when others didn't.

Yes, the sport has moved on. Not normal is the new normal. It is called science. People are just faster now. Amino acids in needles and beetroot juice in fine blood bags is the way forward.

Interesting comments from Contador about the Dawg:

Very true. Some people around here doubted that Froome is an improved alien since last year. Now the thing is Contador suffered a miraculous transformation compared to whole of last year that's why he was able to follow Chris The Inhaler.

Exactly ... there was some magical cross tailwind that pushed Froome the whole way up. Although this is a funny comment for Bert to make ... makes me wonder where he actually ranks Froome's climbing compared to others, perhaps folks from the 2007 TdF?

You have to wonder how much of the inside baseball Contador directly knows about the UCI favoring Froome. It's not to say Contador isn't favored by the UCI.

Just that, he seems to be acutely aware and very strategic about what he says.

Could be the reason why Tinkoff-Saxo bought Rogers and Steven de Jongh. In order to gain knowledge from insiders.

He probably reads the Clinic.

I think it's something as simple as Contador having a fully functional brain...

It appears Contador works with different methods to just mess with Froomes head. Bear in mind the infamous "coffee-moment" in a yellow shirt and this quote where he says that although he has never seen anything like that attack, it is something to "respect" but not "fear". Froomes ego doesnt want to hear that. With the article he also says that are there any UCI-favours out there, two can play that game. Or the possibility could exist.

And then this:

Contador remains seriously impressed by Froome’s form, but he also argued that Bradley Wiggins’ absence from the Tour line-up represented a loss for Team Sky, at least viewed from outside the team.
“What we can see, from an external point of view, is that they are not going to have a rider there who has won the Tour, who has a great deal of experience and who right now is in a great state of form. From inside... I don’t know what the circumstances are that have caused them to take this decision.”

Am i the only reading: we know the circumstances dont try anything, into the last quote? Or simply they just try to exploit the fact Froome cant have many friends left within the team after that book.

This was a heavily orchestrated interview if i ever saw one.

Translation:

"Wow. Froome has a fair pair of fullish swingers if he thinks he can come at me without a public show of regret at the absence of such a great talent as Wiggo. I'll just arch a poetic eyebrow in mock surprise and watch my Clinic minions soil their diapers."

Close, but the correct translation is:

"Does Froome even care that he's carrying on like an absolute tosser and expects to be able to dope with relative impunity? Seems so."

It's basically a "I beat Armstrong when he was on my team, why are you such a puss?" statement.

Excellent blog by Robert Millar.

Good to see the rabbit story made it!

http://www.cyclingnews.com/blogs/ro...r-blog-froome-and-the-tour-de-france-gunfight

Millar was a unique bike rider, but this

....there's smoke to be imagined by the pack of wolves that inhabit the press room, and they are at their happiest when there's a fire to report on and flames to be fanned....

the 'pack of wolves' that let Armstrong away with it for years? That never put 2 of McQuaids releases side by side to ask WTF? That have run from doping stories rather than invetigate them. What about last year and the question of EBH going backwards at Sky? Where were the wolves to jump on that imaginary fire.

If the 'POW' go after Froome and Sky this years it is because the smoke is not imagined as Robert "Omerta" Millar would like to have us believe, it is black and thick!

Millar still hoping for a better gig in cycling instead of the odd blog on CN!!

"I'm furious. My anus is almost glowing. Maybe if Dr. Leinders could rub some anti-histamine on my ***. Yeah, it will help. Buuuut I'm so furious right now that I could steal a baby rabbit from a kindergarten and watch it die. Oh wait, I have to do my job as an internet reactionary who have to respond to all these blasphemous skeptics. In the sport of cycling, we always lose, but there's got to be a few of us. For the love of Michelle, Motoman and Murdoch."

excellent points.
'pack of wolves' my ***. there's one lonely wolf out there and his name is kimmage.
the near-total lack of quality, inquisitive sports journalism really is distressing.

All the posturing and PR stuff, again, these guys are not stupid. If they're sticking their necks out and saying things like 'a yellow jersey that will stand the test of time' it must be because they are 99.9999% sure that as things stand today and in terms of what they are doing today, they're safe. I'd say that's just basic business sense. Would the sponsor like it if you make BIG noise about how clean you are then get rumbled? Doubt it. Would make them look stupid. And this is after all, one big business.

One big problem with your analysis. Many, many riders and teams have previously said "We are not doping" or "Go ahead, test us, we're clean".

This is NOTHING NEW.

Sure, it's shocking when someone looks you in the face and lies directly to you. But they would only be the latest in a long, long line of athletes who have vigorously denied cheating with all the same consequences if they get caught.

Denials mean nothing.

When you pretend that doping does not exist, a guy like Kimmage takes the form of Fenris.

Froome told Kimmage that he barely saw Kerrison but they both live in Monaco!

So Millar's finally a little skeptical of Froome because of the TUE, not because the guy behind the team's super training plan also happened to be sitting across from Millar at the time of arrest?

Frustrating that the guy who prides himself on being the voice of clean rising in the peloton is so naive.

PK: I’m interested that you didn’t mention (Tim) Kerrison’s name when I suggested the improvement might have come from Leinders. You mentioned Julich?

(Note: Kerrison, the Head of Athlete Performance, is generally credited as the ‘Genie’ at Team Sky.)

CF: Personally, I never worked with Tim.

PK: You never worked with him?

CF: No.

MC: Not until this year.

CF: Not until Bobby left. I was working with Rod (Ellingworth) at first and then with Bobby when he came. Tim was always working with Brad and the more top-end guys. I think Tim would set training that Bobby would assign to me, so it was indirectly coming from Tim, but I had very little contact with Tim at that point.

What Froome actually said is that during his 2011 improvement he wasn't directly working with Kerrison but Julich, it seems that in 2013 he worked more directly with Kerrison

Don't people actuallly take time to read the interview:eek:
