Clearly below his level.
Question is did he have more in the tank or not?

They didn’t go full speed, that is why. They didn’t keep a strong sustained tempo all the time because Pogacar followed Vingegaard closely. Vinge didn’t push 100% when he was ahead. If Almeida was there they would have been even faster.

they both beat the climbing record by a minute, vingegaard was at his best level so far, pog was under control, but it seems like their level is pretty even now. If they went solo and not control each other they would have gone even faster, so both of them had a high level today but being on a similar level they slowed down a bit

Seeing the last 2 MTF's, I don't think the gap between the 2 is as big as Hautacam suggested.

And honestly, I don't think Pogacar would've gain 2 minutes without Narvaez' insane acceleration on this stage. And I don't think Narvaez would accelerate like that with Almeida still in the race.

This tells me this is an off day from Pog.

I said it at stage 15 he looks tired. After stage 15 Pog himself said he was just coming off a cold, runny dose, sore throat (+the crash). As long as he isn’t about to crack it is all good and we may see some form on La Plagne. That or he is being very smart and starting to save energy for the Vuelta.

I agree. I think Narvaez ruined Vingegaard's legs and made him explode later.

Vingo attacked multiple times but for Pogi its one day closer to Paris with a healthy GC buffer. They let an epic stage win slip on flats though.

He also won Flèche Wallonne seated, as long as he can push the watts necessary in the saddle, it makes sense to stay seated.

Pogacar has declined to Vingegaard’s level and if the trajectory continues, and considering that the last two mountain stages fits Vingegaard perfectly, we might see Pog in trouble. Still 4:15 should not be possible to win back, unless Pog crumbles completely.

Don't think it's Pogi declining to Jonas' level. He's just riding defensively. He followed all of Jonas' attacks today with ease.
