The difference he made on Ganda in 2021 took ~10 watts more than the rest.

I would not read too much into these races as Lombardy’s extra distance and parcours plays into his hand but it is the end of a long season and would not be surprised to see him falling short on Saturday- he does have an excellent team on paper though

Pog will be strong but it's one thing to beat a record in a standalone, high-intensity effort and it's another thing to ride it after 200 km of racing (ok, maybe Pog did a long training ride before but still it's hard to simulate racing intensity).

Agree, Pog solo on Ganda. I think his training is geared a lot more towards these long efforts in Lombardia than the explosive stuff.

Maybe wasn't the strongest today, but took his moment, and off he was. Vlasov leaving the gap, Roglic and Bagioli trying to let others do the work, that was it. Great Pogacar!

I'd comfortably pick Pogi over Mathieu this season after Lombardia. Van der Poel has done *** all outside his 3 big wins compared to Pog's 2 monuments - Paris-Nice (3 stages), Amstel, Fléche, 2 stage and 2nd in TdF.

I agree. To me Pog was the rider of the season. Both have 2 monuments. MVP has a WC gold, which obviously eclipses most single achievements but Pog's all season excellence is a strong argument (I mean TdF runner-up, WC bronze, wins in PN, Fleche, Amstel are big results).

Remco didn't win what he need and Jonas didn't win what he needed, same with Froglic, and Mathieu cut his season short, so I think Velo d' Or should be a comfortable win after yet another Lombardia. Its impossible for me to argue for any of the other riders outside of Vingegaard.

Pog continuing to show who’s on top year round and at Lombardia. Doesn’t make up for the LBL crash and Tour disappointment but rounds out another nice season for him.
