Why on earth is poor Seb Henao going to Vattenfall?

A bit odd I agree, especially considering Moscon was available. They are both riding Tour du Poitou Charentes where Moscon will be the protected rider considering the time trial.

Sky have quite a few riders unavailable at the moment due to injury/illness: Roche, Landa, Sergio Henao and Intxausti.

And then there are the riders who were at the Olympics: Viviani, Thomas, Poels, Kiryienka and Doull. Pretty sure the first three all crashed too, with Poels having to pull out of the time trial as a result.

Nieve is resting after doing the Giro-Tour and I guess there must be an injury for Alex Peters considering he hasn't raced since the nationals in June.

Zandio is also going to Poitou Charentes. Bit of a sad end to a career for him.

Wisniowski is official, good flat's domestique for stage races and a great classics rider & lead out man for Viviani/DVP.

Yes, a nice upgrade on Fenn.

Sky's cobbles squad should be pretty good next year: Stannard, Rowe, Moscon, Van Poppel, Wisniowski, Puccio, Doull, Golas and Knees will be the core squad and then the likes of Thomas, Kwiatkowski and Viviani will ride selected races.

Nice upgrade?

They seem to have about same level of classic riding, can't see how he's at all any better. Only one year younger.

Seems direct replacement, but Fenn could sprint a little and Wisniowski can TT.

P.S. And before any points it out, yes spriting to 5th in KBK doesn't really count as classic potential just yet :p

Yeah, I've seen more than enough from both riders in the classics to know that Wisniowski is a much stronger rider than Fenn. He's also 18 months younger and has been developing as a rider, unlike Fenn who has been regressing as a rider during his five years as a pro.

With Kwiatkowski out, that team now looks pretty shaky come the proper climbs. I know a strong team probably counts for less in the Vuelta than in the other two, especially with Froome in his annual yo-yo race, but a Henao, one of Nieve/Landa or Thomas/Poels would really have significantly strengthened this team.
