I dunno. One swallow doesn't make a summer. But the opposite is also true. If Pidcock et al. don't get any results until Liege such a conclusion would be warranted. But now it's a bit premature.

Pidcock was 5th. It's hardly a disaster.

But they were never in contention for the win at all. Only had one rider at the decisive moment when Van Baarle attacked whilst Jumbo, Bahrain and Lotto all had four.

Quickstep being bad isn’t a surprise to me. I was expecting a bit more from Ineos.

All they have to do is stop the Plastic Emperor finding out that Van Baarle no longer rides for them and then it's a very successful day for Little Jimmy's boys and the sponsorship money will keep on rolling in.

He has bigger worries about his sailing team at the moment.

Losing Turner early didn't help, but I agree the team was a bit disappointing. Most of all they just waited for other teams to make the race and were never on the attack.

It has to be said Ineos didn't start last year's classic camping particularly well either but from Harelbeke they were a lot better. Perhaps Sheffield and Kwiatkowski will peak later.

It depends on how bad it is but a fracture should be a few weeks at least, I guess.

Pidcock was certainly disappointing. In a race with none of the extraterrestrials at the start you'd expect one of the more talented humans to come to the fore, but he didn't. Except for one little dig on the front I didn't really see him.

If this was some indication of what to come Pidcock is in for a disappointing season. Jumping the CX WC, showing some form in previous races and several of the best one day riders not attending one might assume that he should have been more visible and been able to make a mark. Any interviews with him post race?

Still blows my mind that they did throw a ton of money at Van Baarle to keeolp him for 2 more years as the leader for the cobbles squad and a superdomestique for gts. Looking as some of the guys that have a seven figure contract on that team they probably could have payed him 2M.

Ineos needs to ride for Magness Sheffield instead of wasting him riding for Pidcock. Pidcock doesn't have the watts to go toe to toe with the big boys in the cobbled classics.

Thomas has shown that he's pretty good in cold, rainy weather (if he stays on his bike), that could help him a bit in the Giro.

And Hindley is riding the Tour.

Pidcock won Strade but I think this is shaping up to be Ineos’ worst season in terms of major wins. They are nowhere in the cobble classics and there are at least four riders who are a long way clear of them in stage races.

I was expecting a breakout season for Sheffield on the cobbles but it hasn’t happened.

I have to wonder how long Sir Jim will keep writing out those big cheques with Ineos's current form. Their prospects also for the Giro & TdF don't look too good.

Ganna was decent today but overall INEOS has been a bit underwhelming. Maybe the Giro will tell us something.

I'm a bit disappointed in their classic squad, Sheffield in particular was invisible in pretty much any one day race so far.

But stage races are the real problem: Martinez, Rodriguez, Arensman, Thomas, Tulett... all of them not performing at the expected level.

Yeah, but I expect Pidcock to be up there in the Ardennes classics. The big mystery to me is Dani Martinez.
