I suggested this would happen in the COVID thread - A few riders from the Saudi Tour and Challenge Mallorca returned positive COVID results after the finish of their race - Many times are testing riders/staff every day in stage races.

So apparently with Van Vleuten's and Valverde's victories today Abarca made it to 1000 victories in professional cycling (at least according to their counting, not sure what exactly is included in this number).
And who got the 1000th, Bala or Miek?So apparently with Van Vleuten's and Valverde's victories today Abarca made it to 1000 victories in professional cycling (at least according to their counting, not sure what exactly is included in this number).
Well.., I guess they're being optimistic for a reasonThey're being quite optimistic here!
If they have the same amount of "success" - across both teams - as they did in 2020, they won't reach 1000 wins this year. However, that's probably quite unlikely, considering that they have Van Vleuten.
Likely any victories in the organization from 1980 through current.
And who got the 1000th, Bala or Miek?
That was fitting, one of the best two riders in the team's history hit that milestone.Seems like it was Bala. His race finished 13 minutes later
Yes, but I do not know what exactly they count as wins. Do they count national titles, do they count winning the team classification in GTs?
And a rider born the same year as the team. That was fitting, one of the best two riders in the team's history hit that milestone.
Incredible how such a famous and strong team in WT cycling is still reliant on 42yo Valverde for 100% of their Victories so far in 2022

Yeah, without a doubt, their Women's Team is strong. Riders like Noorsgaard, Sierra and Gigante are a very good foundation beyond AvV.
For the men, isn't their budget more mid-level and wasn't that the case even during the Quintana-Valverde years? Anyway, IMHO their team is stronger this year than last. Aranburu, G Izagirre and Sosa each can win a race or two and Barta and Kanter are solid, too.
Unzue would probably call everyone below 40 a young Lion(ess).Well, Emma might have brought the team's average winning age down to below 40 now.
Don't think López did the Northern classics last yearNot like you gotta be superman to be selected on this team anyways in these races lol
Damn Norsgaard is a beast. Gotta love it! Her brother is not doing too shabby either, lets see what he has in him in the classics. Not like you gotta be superman to be selected on this team anyways in these races lol
Hmm... looks like someone is gonna have a pretty busy schedule next week... And these are supposedly both finalised starlists:
PN:
Movistar Team
TA:
- ERVITI Imanol
- GARCÍA CORTINA Iván
- IZAGIRRE Gorka
- JACOBS Johan
- NORSGAARD Mathias
- JORGENSON Matteo
- MÜHLBERGER Gregor
Movistar Team
Luckily for Norsgaard that PN roster is wrong

It's because the spot in TA is taken by a time travelling Norsgaard from the past, who is still eligible for the youth classification.
I know. Which just makes the fact that both lineups are listed as finalised even funnier.
It's not even like he got confused with Jorgenson...
Or Emma...
Of course, technically there will be a Norsgaard at TA who's eligible for the youth classification, but I don't think UAE will let him guest-ride for Movistar...
