Glad he didn't hold back today. Hopefully he can come back and kill it tomorrow. Evans would show some real class and become my hero if he were to help TJ tomorrow, that is if TJ isn't in the tank after today's effort.

That would be the oppossite of what we have been seeing all Tour but well.

What TVG shoul be doing is following the directions of the team managers - disobeying them risks his chance of a follow on contract.

However I think that keeping TVG in the white jersey is a team goal. Watch out for how the team protects him tomorrows and Fridays stages.

JVDB seems a little tired today, he did not initiate any attack although he did lead the chasing though. TJ on the other hand seems is getting better and better, and he is hiding in the train all day to save energy. I hope he can be aggressive to attack JVDB tomorrow to take some time. I just don't want him to turn out to be another Levi. After all one Levi is already enough for US cycling.;)

He doesn't need to attack to pass JVDB. He took 2'06 out of JVDB on the first TT that had a fairly signicant climb for a TT and the final TT is 22% longer and basically a flat TT.

I could seem him taking 3+ minutes from JVDB on the final TT.

It's jsut unfortunate he had to babysit Evans on the final climb of stage 11 otherwise he might be in a position to land on the podium in 3rd.

Thoroughly surprised by Van Garderen. I was convinced his climbing had stagnated.

Well, Levi didn't ride his first TdF until he was 28th I think, got 8th. Tejay's going to beat that at the age of 23.

In any case, he probably doesn't need to take all that much time from VdB. Even as it is right now he's got a shot to pass him in the ITT. If he could get even 20 to 30 seconds tomorrow, I'd be pretty confident he'll end up in 4th unless someone behind him has a monster day. Which is unlikely.

I want him be aggressive, I am sure that is exactly most of the time Levi was thinking, why bother attacking even if I could, I can just get time in the ITT. That is a boring a rider. I don't want TJ to be like that, take time whenever you can be aggressive, be fierce.:eek:

Well, sure, in the future, but basically the battle right now is for fourth, which means that the first priority is to make sure he doesn't lose any time to VDB and Zubeldia. If he was within striking distance of a podium place, then I imagine he'd be more aggressive, but he's really not within striking distance unless Nibali or Froome completely collapses tomorrow.

In any case, any number of things could happen tomorrow, it's a tough stage. We shall see.

And regardless, my point was that he's way ahead of Levi already. If he's riding ultra-conservatively 4 or 5 years from now you can break out that criticism, but at the moment it's a bit premature. It's already surprising he's doing as well as he is. He's been exceeding expectations, lets not move the goalposts on him so quickly.

Can TJ get enough time on Vandy in the TT to obtain 4th overall in the end? Nice ride today to get himself in 5th.
