For the whole year? Yes it certainly is.

I was actually quite dissapointed with some of the so called experts teams regarding how bad they were.

I'm looking forward to quoting this in October ;)

Much better than mine:eek: I did mine in a rush. You got a good chance of being in the top 10.

Don't worry you can be on the top of the leaderboard soon.

It's amazing that there is already such a large disparity in points. Out of curiosity who led last year, at this stage and their points.

I did some research on this and the result is very surprising as the leader at this point last year had almost double the amount of points that just some guy has now (of course it helped that microdose's team was all Australian :D). The only difference is that last year Tour San Luis was ridden simultaneously with TDU so the results from this race was included in last years update 2 (which is this years update 3).

Last years top 10 at this point (including San Luis points):

1. (1) microdose - 1718
2. (6) Kevin Rudd's Hairdryer - 1368
3. (2) Pcutter - 1271
4. (15) auto de fé - 1140
5. (4) Spider1964 - 1088
6. (20) Bicing - 896
7. (13) Moondance - 887
8. (57) lancaster - 850
9. (8) LukeSchmid - 849
10. (3) trotters aotearoa - 798

For fun I thought I would see where those "early leaders" ended up in the final update:

microdose: 70th
Kevin Rudd's Hairdryer: 36th
Pcutter: 22nd
auto de fé: 58th
Spider1964: 41st
Bicing: 42nd
Moondance: 65th
lancaster: 72nd
LukeSchmid: 8th
trotters aotearoa: 67th

IIRC correctly microdose had a team solely of Aussies right? So he was always going score huge points in Jan.

I'll even name some names. The Hitch and Timmy loves Rabo's teams were very dissapointing for self professed experts....let the sledging begin.

I just think it's a bit cocky to come out and say "my team is the strongest" and everyone else's is "disappointing". I think you have as good a shot as anyone - you've got a lot of the obvious picks and some good potential to improve but like everyone else you've also got some risks that may or may not pay off. Personally I think Basso, Henderson, Oss and Frank will not manage to do much more than break even, if that. And if for example Basso breaks his leg tomorrow then you'll be the one with egg on your face because you came out and said "this is the winning team" before you'd even seen anyone elses!

That last comment was more to cause some friendly banter than anything truthful so please don't get your knickers in a knot. timmy said in another thread that he looks forward to beating me in another fantasy game.

42nd... Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan that lack of Cobo makes me look realllll bad. :(
If it weren't for Cobo I'd have been up about 10-15 places!

My goal is to get all my riders into profit by at least doubling their original points.
I know this is unlikely though.:)

I haven't seen ACF 's team but it better be good for all his bigging it up.

If I'm right that means you'll score 15000 points if your team's worth 7500. Isn't that a tad bit high?

Yeah its a bit unrealistic, that was my initial strategy but i doubt if i'll get close. maybe next year. :p

Actually I'll be happy if i get 10,000 points.

My success in this game will come down to 10 riders: Boom, Ciolek, De Gendt, Steegmans, Bertagnolli, Blythe, Masciarelli, Stetina, Boeckmans and Vaugrenard.

I expect 4,600 points from them and so far they have 114.

It's not that unlikely that someone reaches 15000. Especially since a lot more people have built pretty solid teams this year compared to last year when more teams had some type of flaw.

Alright. I'm in the 70s somewhere after TDU which is fairly similar to where I was at this point last year. From this point on last year I managed to gain in position for each update until I was 2nd in the rankings. Let's see if I can get the same consistent rise this year as well. I doubt it though since I have fewer classics riders and more riders that need though terrain this year.

I estimate my team to make 17,000 points. At worst 15,000.

Also, for all the hype surrounding ACF's team, my estimation is 12,500 points for him. So not good enough. He could have done so much better than these picks, for example:

BURGHARDT Marcus
IGLINSKIY Maxim
VELITS Martin
WYSS Danilo

You don't think Iglinskiy is a good pick?

this is my goal too :D
I took only rider that can double (at least) their point, for this reason I didn't take nobody higher than 700pts...
for example Nibali can be a good choice beacuse can do more than 1100pts, but it's difficult for him to reach again 2200pts...

Wow... 15000 is not that much then.

your team is poor in neo-pro... most of them can reach 300% of the points of the last year and in some case (like Durbridge), even 500% or more..

I'll be happy if I get 8000 points. But I think I'll score... 10263 points.

Actually I had thought of making a "side event" which was "guess the value of your riders". Then you'd have to get within 5 or 10% of that riders value when the season has finished to get 1 point. The forum user with the most correct guesses would then be the winner.

But I was a bit busy and never got to do it. Would have been fun though :)
