Booooyaaaaa!!! Second week in a row listed as a hih mover, +9 spots with 404 points (7th for the week)! Another 10 weeks like these and I'll reach the top-50 :D .

Tibopino got me some points, but this week looks promising: Cees Bol again a winner today, Hirt today, Polanc may still top-10 Il Giro, and Vai Vincenzo!

I hope you are right Squire. It would be awesome to see Richie and Yates up there in the Tour this year.

This might be a curse. When we discussed teams in the beginning of the year, Squire said that he especially liked my picks of Padun and Reichenbach.

I have got 45 points from them in combination :D

It be harsh to blame Squire if Porte does what Porte does

Nobody could envision Padun never racing in the first 5 months of the season.

Which is why I picked him and why I think Squire's words must have been a curse.
My theme song for this year's CQ game should be 'King Midas in Reverse' by The Hollies. :D

I'm still a bit annoyed that my team is too bad to let me profit from being proven right about Cav and Kittel. Ah well, I'll be back with a vengeance next season (I hope :p ).

A very good week for me. Yes, I have many popular picks, but my team still scored around 1,200 points this week, if my calculations are right.
The Tour will probably be pretty bad for me, I don't have a lot of faith in Nibali, Porte and Landa. It's probably gonna be all about Gaviria for me...

Decent Giro for me with stage wins for Gaviria, Zakarin and Chaves and several top-5 placings. Nibali and Zakarin top-10, with Hamilton and Cattaneo 25th and 28th scoring decently as well. Bit of a bummer that Hamilton didn't have more freedom as he seemed to have the legs to be a fringe top-10 contender.
I'm missing Landa whom I assume quite a few will have but hopefully I can compensate with a good Tour of Norway.

Points this week:
Giro
Nibali 405
Zakarin 142
Chaves 136
Cattaneo 57
Hamilton 54
Conci 15

Norway
Halvorsen 173
Affini 109

In hindsight I wish I'd picked Ciccone, it was him or Barguil, and Barguil has been a very poor pick because of his crashes and injuries. Another coin flip I wish had gone another way is Teunissen vs Walscheid...

I'll have to do the math, but Bol in Norway, Cosnefroy, Gougeard and Jauregui in France scored, plus my Giro line-up did OK with Nibali and Polanc. Not 1200 points tho'...man, that's a lot of points...
Yes, but my team is pretty "Giro heavy", the Tour will be a different story for my team...

Nibali, Landa & Zakarin on GC for me. Some minor GC points from O'Connor and Chaves(along with stage points this week) and some points from Paret-Peintre today in France. By my calculations 1116 points this week. Good, but that will be easily surpassed by others I am sure.

Weekly breakdown:

Giro: GC 530 pts - Stages (16-21) 67 pts - Points Classification 3 pts - Nibali, Polanc, Hirt, Montaguti
Norway: GC 79 pts - Stages 51 pts - Leader's Jersey 16 pts - Bol, Ian Stannard
Wiscig Majora Hubala: 30 pts - Mosca
Chateaulin: 128 pts - Cosnefroy, Eiking
Plumelec: 120 pts - Gougeard, Jauregui

Total: 1024 points, unless I missed something.

Not much significant racing this week, I shall be cheering for Loïc Vliegen and Vincenzo Albanese in Luxembourg, and Clement Venturini in Boucles de la Mayenne.

Yes, looks like just PARET-PEINTRE Aurélien at Grand Prix de Plumelec-Morbihan and Boucles de l'Aulne - Châteaulin and Evenpoel at Hammer Limburg for me. I need to get more guys signed up for Dauphine as well.

Update #21: Lord of the Giro: Return of the King

The final week of the Giro is usually (but not always) one of three highest-scoring weeks of the CQ year. With such a popular pick finishing 2nd overall, this was bound to be the case again this year. We also had the 2.HC Tour of Norway and some 1.1 races with some fairly popular picks doing well.

This Week's Top Scorers

Rank Team Points this week
1 Total Package 1559
2 Wallenquist 1523
3 DFA123 1448
4 ruvu75 1388
5 skidmark 1348

To win a CQ week, you need the total package, and Total Package certainly had that this week. 2nd, 4th, 9th & 10th in the Giro equals almost 1000 points, and with Tour of Norway runner-up Halvorsen and Rund um Köln winner Planckaert in the team in addition to Giro stage winner Chaves, that's 1559 points and a weekly win! Wallenquist follows closely in 2nd with similar scorers + Kristoff, but no Sivakov and Halvorsen. The teams in 3rd, 4th and 5th on the week will get their glory in a moment...

Basically everyone mentioned in this update have some sort of Nibali/Landa/Chaves/Zakarin/Sivakov/Halvorsen/Planckaert combination. We need to go all the way down to 25th-placed Eyeballs Out to find the first Nibali-less team of the week. They had unique pick Carapaz to compensate, however.

This Week's High Movers

Rank Team Up/down
1 Wallenquist (+42)
2 Total Package (+28)
3 search (+23)
4 Mayomaniac (+20)
5 LosBrolin (+18)

42 places for Wallenquist! What a jump, considering we're so far into the game. I guess it helps starting from far back. Weekly winner Total Package also gets a significant boost to their rankings, while search round out the podium here.

This Month's Top Scorers

Rank Team Up/down
1 DFA123 2728
2 Total Package 2555
3 Wallenquist 2427
3 ruvu75 2427
5 search 2402

With the Giro giving out a big share of the CQ points in May, it's natural that the Giro high-scorers are also near the top of this list. DFA123 has Giro sprinters Ewan and Cimolai to add to the GC points plus Dunbar with loads of Yorkshire points, and that takes them past this week's winner Total Package.

This Month's High Movers

Rank Team Up/down
1 Wallenquist (+41)
2 search (+40)
3 DFA123 (+34)
4 Total Package (+32)
5 drebelo (+30)
5 DJ Sprtsch (+30)

The big post-Giro movers are obviously the main players in the monthly climbing competition, too.

Green Jersey Competition

Rank Team Total
1 skidmark 167
2 TheArt 160
3 armchairclimber 153
3 Googolplex 153
5 ruvu75 150

Both skidmark (5th on the week) and TheArt (7th on the week) leapfrog former co-leaders armchairclimber and Googolplex. ruvu75 gains 26 points for 4th on the week, and sneaks into the top 5.

Top 10 Overall

Rank Up/down Team Points
1 (+2) skidmark 7445
2 (-) fauniera 7373
3 (-2) Object 7348
4 (+2) karaev 7160
5 (+2) TheArt 7121
6 (+11) DFA123 7008
7 (+3) Kryvo 7001
8 (+2) Nyssinator 6991
9 (+7) ruvu75 6990
10 (-6) Tigerion 6958

The CQ king himself, skidmark, returns to the top spot after his great week. Object also had a decent week, scoring 1038 points, but it wasn't enough against the high-flying skidmark. fauniera also passes the former leader. DFA123 makes a strong leap into the top 10 along with ruvu75. tobydawq, Googolplex and EvansIsTheBest drop out, but none of them too far. They are in places 11th through 13th.
