Oh no, that would have been much more fun to watch. Lets see how Mr Spin does trying to use cadence to out pace them.

I have nothing against cats but I prefer not to have them as pets. Because I prefer dogs to be as pets. But I'm not a cat-hater nor am I allergic to cats.

Kitty was feeling very social tonight. She curled up on the bench next to me on the patio while we barbecued and ate outside (no, she didn't beg or get any chicken).

Then she accompanied us on our walk. Although I really think she goes with us to protect us, because she knows how totally helpless humans are.....

It's really touching to walk along, look back and see her trotting after us, though.

Yesterday evening we had to shuffle cars from garage to driveway and so on, so my husband and I both went out, and left the house door open. Instantly Kitty appeared in the front yard and sat on the front porch. When we were done with the cars, we went in and Kitty disappeared again. She didn't want to come in, she had just been guarding the house while we left the door open.

Cats would be much better guard animals if they were considerably larger--and not so lazy.

There are currently, let me see, 1, 2, 3...

...13 cats in our house!

No, not all are ours. We help rescue and adopt out kittens - really, Mrs. Alpe does almost the work, but I help. There are five little guys in the office, all of five weeks old, that are as cute as could be. And smart. Took them no time to get used to the littler box, eating solid food, drinking on their own, scratching the post instead of other things. If we didn't already have too many, we'd adopt all of them. It's a great joy when you open the door to get in there and this happy little stampede of kittens comes running towards you to play!

There are two more in the bathroom. A friendly orange tabby that's about 18 weeks or so, and a baby about 2 weeks old that is still having a hard time eating on it's own and cries a lot.

Then the other five or six more that are ours, depending on how you count. Our bed looks like that kitty rail that usedtobefast posted. I frequently wake up in the middle of the night and find I can't move because I'm boxed in.

I'll see if I can take a photo of the little guys and post it.

I'm dealing with a back injury these days so sleep is tough to come by. Might as well post. Anyway, that sounds like a fun household. Good job getting the kittens to learn the scratching post. When I first got my cat I figured the only way to teach her to use it was to demonstrate. So for 2 weeks I was getting down on my hands and knees working the scratch post and saying "Look Hunt, this is how you do it." I always had a sneaking suspicion that she figured it out right away and was just seeing how long she could make me look like a jacka**. "Uh, jeez man(snicker) I'm not gettin it, you better show me again". I guess I should be thankful she didnt start pooping on the floor to see if I would demonstrate the litter box.

That reminds me of a story from an acquaintance. She would often buy cat toys, scratching posts, etc. for her two cats. They never touched them, but would play with everything else in the house, and especially love the Christmas tree.

So one year she wised up, put the Christmas tree up, called the cats in, and said, "This is your very special Cat Tree! Just for you all! Go ahead and play with it all you want!"

She swears they totally ignored it from then on......

That's a great story Marinoni!

Here's another one. Just yesterday I got home from work, rode the bike up to the back porch (dusk, dark) and can see there's an orange cat near the back, it jumps into the garden and I hear a collar. I take the bike light off, and shine it over, and sure enough, it's a Persian. People pay good money for these, and they are usually indoor cats only. This one looks dirty and hungry. How they know our house is the kitten rescue I don't know, but they do.

It took a bit to get him in, but we were able to feed him, call his owner, who was very relieved her cat was okay, and she came and happily picked him up.

So yes, there are good stories in this world. :)
