Mate. You have no idea of the day I had yesterday.

I spent 6 hours travelling from and to work which normally takes 45 min. Including a 7km part I had to walk. I was dead. I needed my night rest. Thanks.

I certainly didn't get up this night, either, to watch the women's race. And I'm not blaming anybody, but saying it's "perfect" to see the final 25 kms of the WCRR (and I assumed you were talking about the men's race) just didn't ring particularly true.

When are people waking up tomorrow? Im thinking somewhere in the ballpark of 5-6am should be decent enough, maybe a bit earlier. Don't think I care enough to watch the whole thing, even though I would under normal circumstances..
I'm gonna watch from the start, half an hour before the race i'm already sitting in my sofa, that is 01:30 over here. I'm a big Remco fan by the way.

It looks to me the women's race gave the best insight into the peculiarities of the course... where selection can be made, when to start the thinning down, what are the chances from Mt. Pleasant, how big groups can form...
The guys are stronger though, and lesser dispersion should be expected. Especially in the forecast weather.

Great, if that's how you want to experience once of the biggest bike races of the year.

I'm a bit more of a fan, so I'll watch the race from the start.
I woke up and saw there was 3km to go and watched only that!

I don't think I will even watch 3km of men's tomorrow because I'm visiting a friend and will be in bed after a Saturday night. I'm gonna wake up and find out that Van aert won :(

I'm going to watch it from the start and then probably fall asleep five or six times before the finish.

Also, the women’s race today showed that a peak form Ala would love this parcours……strong French team to make the race very hard, leading to Ala going all out on final climb on final circuit - he would be tough to catch with any sort of gap over the top and on the descent - pity we don’t have a peak Ala tomorrow

How does WVA play it tomorrow? Today showed how difficult a smaller group is to control when you are best sprinter and there are groups coming up from behind. Kopecky had the world championship in her grasp in that last 3km but had no control over a late attack. Does he just hope for a kopecky type situation and jump on the wheel of any late attacker? Or does he try and go solo on the last climb (similar to Calais)

He'll have his guys chase down Remco, only to loose the sprint or let a late attacker get away.;)

Ugh, CUL. Maybe the best chance she will ever get, considering the composition of the five woman group. Maybe she got a bit too defensive bc. she is usually the underdog and never the favourite in these kinds of finishes since her sprint used to suck, but I really wish she and a couple of the others had worked more in the group.

Van Vleuten increased her legend today, amazing how she pulled that one off.

Although...I was kind of surprised that no one marked her in the final Km. They surely knew that with her elbow, especially, she wasn't going to be able to really sprint from a standing position, and thus would have to go early.

But it was a really good move, strength aside -- once you leave 10 riders in a small bunch like that, chances are they'll just look at each other.

Not setting any alarm. I wake up too early naturally anyway so I'll probably just get up when that happens around 7.

So weird to see a rider coming from behind, and NONE of the riders in the front group reacted - NONE of them at least tried to follow van Vleuten. It's quite amazing. And disappointing.

(But then again, basically every women's race disappoints me these days - I hope some day it will change.)
If you see how fast they are dropping when the road goes up, i think some just don't train enough or can't handle the pain.

I’m not sure CUL was deliberately missing turns - I think her cornering was so poor that she was getting gapped and then tiring herself by constantly closing gaps. And also then focussing on positioning herself at the front on the way into corners rather than focussing on pulling turns.
The contrast between Kasia’s cornering and CUL’s cornering was stark…

This was definitely one of AVV’s most endearing victories, but still a frustrating outcome to watch
