Maybe things are different now because it would appear Ayuso is desperate to get out this UAE situation, but even if they had the funds Movistar never made much sense to me. They were the other suitor back when Ayuso was a junior with Bathco. Even the master Valverde himself travelled to Valencia poach him, but to no avail. Ayuso is very demanding when it comes to professionalism, and Movistar are just at amateur level compared to some of these other teams. INEOS or Red Bull is where I'd be looking at.

I am a huge fan boy for sure..but someone may get real disappointing news as Vuelta turns up the heat..so it went diplomatic at first for sure, somebody from Vuelta called UAE and sweetened start money offer to include Ayuso. UAE said that they will think about it, or no. Vuelta goes w standard public pressure campaign, send bait stories to cycling websites and news outlets, all of what I am saying probably took a few hours and a few hundred Euros. So it's in a transfer teams best interest to see Ayuso head to head w some of the best, last GT of the season. It helps their branding.. If Bora is actually going after Remco the more positive media exposure he gets is good for their brand, their team.. I am just curious about where Ayuso fits as a leader.. Sounds like it's not UAE, Bora pretty crowded?
Del Toro is going to have millions of people seeing him on Latin American news and Mexico is @130 million w millions still watching evening news shows, he will have people routing for him that will never see him race.

He literally was like 100m off the 2nd place in Flanders this year. He was also top 8 best in LBL and came 2nd in Brabantse Pijl. Then didn't get selected for the Tour after preparing for it. Results don't show everything.

Will be a very valuable rider for Cofidis in the bigger races.

So why is there team news coming out today if the new date for transfers is October 15th?

You are assuming that it's a non hostile takeover.. If a team buys out the contract, you can say pretty much anything and everything, I would not value anything written by the UCI as even the paper it's printed on. Oil conglomerates and people like Richard Plugge, don't play by any rules ,they don't need to.
For any written UCI rules there are endless work arounds for those in control of the sport.. and to be clear, UCI is toothless

It's been 1/8 so far, so if teams are announcing new signings despite - maybe? - not being allowed to, then that's on the UCI for not communicating clearly that things have changed.

I don't know under the law of which country the contract was made up, but for example in Spain an employee, by rule, must have a release clause included in their contracts. What we often see with athletes is that the employer (i.e. the sporting club) puts these at ridiculous prices as a formality so the contract never gets bought out. The informal price is often much lower.

What gets complicated is work residency. A good rider has a corporate entity and is paid as contract worker. The payout of contract funds are likely to the contract entity or the contract worker as a resident of the most beneficial tax environment. That usually has great direct benefits for establishing foundations and other tax shelters, too.
If you're a new rider without a good agent and accountant you'll hate how short a professional sporting career can be so you need to protect every buck you make. And don't buy really expensive cars. Make sponsors loan them to you as part of a contract.
British personal income tax for a rider making over $150k pounds is 45%. Corporate tax is 25%, I think. Monaco is 0% on personal income.

Perchance; if he had two years left on his contract. But no way that he can out-wait them 5 years. So he will sulk the rest of this season as he is ordered to fetch bottles for Pogi, and then start from scratch and do as he is told next year.

After one Tour stage (4?) they showed Matxin kissing Ayuso. So yeah, the affection is there! I'm curious how they will solve Vuelta situation - will Matxin just cut all speculations and force the Spaniard into the race?

Teams and riders can announce a transfer now but the contract can’t officially be signed until October 15th.

At least that’s how I read the new rules.

Why is it dying, it's not like Yates has been doing much the last few seasons.

I get that everyone must *** and whine everytime UAE or Visma sign someone but at least there are two strong teams instead of just one.

And as the Ayuso case shows, there simply isn't room for all good riders in two teams so they will inevitably diffuse out to other teams in the end.
