when they say Russia needs to clean up, what they really mean is Russia needs to get better at doping.

Remember that Russia actually tests their athletes quite a lot. Far more frequently than the UKAD for example. Hopefully they will learn their lesson that if you want a clean and credible sport you need to do as little testing as possible.

Agreed. UKAD showing the way. It’s better to not have any samples that need to be destroyed rather than destroying them after you take the test!

Funny that the two countries that dope the most also do the most testing!

The UK doesn't need to test. They know without testing that their athletes are clean as whistles. No need to waste money and time to test.

Good interview with Tygart on Sky News but then they undo it by talking to Radcliffe live afterwards.

Not going to cut off a TV audience that large! How much do TV rights cost, $300 million? No chance.

2016 rights have already been sold. It's not going to impact the bottom line.

What do you mean, Sky is the most independent media company in the world, talking to the most independent anti-doping crusader in the world and then the cleanest athlete in the world. Sounds like you'd enjoy that.

Russia had a state 'sponsored' doping program.

Yet other nations finished above them at 2012 olympics?

Some nations need to look at themselves and ask the question, when we throw the Russians over the cliff should their own nations be joining them?

Looking at you USA, China and GB

Travis Tygart has some explaining to do!
Travis Made a statement through USADA site. I think he is about to banninate USSR.

Wada is investigating these claims separately.

Then I expect the following trend to continue.

Rabobank-RTE-popcorn-growth-data.jpg

My first thought was why is an Irish TV company selling popcorn.
Then I realised it was ready to eat.

Got to save those 3 min in the micowave.
This has me busting out laughing.

Someone owes me a new keyboard.

Yes, that's very likely, USADA has the power ... oh, hang on a minute, I've just checked the rules and guess what? That's utter tosh.

I don't much care about Rio, because I'm assuming that doping will be rampant there anyway, but I would be overjoyed if the World Cup 2018 was affected by that (yeah, just dreaming, I know).

If all the other reasons giving Russia a platform like that wasn't enough of a terrible idea - starting multiple wars of aggression, state sanctioned homophobia, Nazi-hooligans, etc. My apologies if I'm being too political.

Not sure if I'll be amused or get angry at the Russian team inevitably running around the pitch 90+ minutes like *** South Korea 2002.

Isn't Tygart meant to be investigating Alberto Salazar? Or is he just attempting to jump on the kick Russia bandwagon?

The UK and the US have started their fair share of wars too.

Hm, not sure I accept that analogy, but regardless, at least both of them could dope as much as they *** want and they'd still be *** in World Cup. ;)

Yes, not to get too political, but you have to admit, since WWII, the US leads, by far, in that department.

Seb Coe, who is "shocked" that track and field athletes of any country are doping, isn't fit to lead a clean sport.

Clean sport is no longer part of the game and has not been for a long time it would appear, if it ever was.

"either you were asleep on the job or part of the corruption"

I go for part of the corruption.

Great job by the reporter, though many sport leaders and admins should be questioned along these very same lines too!

Can only hope this man gets exactly what he deserves, and not just via the weak-azz sports system, but eventually from the international policing system!

You can always rely on Jon Snow.

Still remember his Alex Ferguson interview.

Very good by Jon Snow. Just watched BBC Newsnight. Great to see Mark Daly of Panorama fame putting the questions to Pound. Which reminds me Coe was backing his mate Alun Wells. All those nasty lies by dodgy journalists who know nothing. Do we need an update on how Wells is getting on with his libel action against Panorama ?

Of course, who'd have thunked it, Alun just forgot to sort out the paperwork.

Then on newsnight they interviewed Seppelt and Evan Davis congratulated him on the biggest sporting scoop ever. Evan just doesn't seem to understand the relationship between sporting federations and their attitude to anti-doping investigations. On Several occasions Evan asked him about Lord Coe getting in touch with Seppelt after the ARD program aired in Dec 2014. Davis seemed incredulous that Coe had repeatedly blanked emails and one time even failed to show for a pre-arranged meet with Seppelt - the bottom line being Coe had never spoken to Seppelt. Davis seemed incredulous that the IAAF had not contacted Seppelt since January and that Jan contact was threatening legal action because the nasty bunch of disgusting journos had got hold of IAAF records that should have been locked in the safe in Monaco as all the athletes had been proven to be cleans.

Coe - asleep at the wheel ? Cookson asleep at the wheel whilst the co-driver with Emma O'Reilly on her long distance drive to deliver Lance's PEDS was employed in the same Manchester building he had his own office in ? The book was published stating this was the case in 2003.

Some might think it was difficult to work out what was going on. Cookson, Brailsford and the rest were "shocked" to learn about Lance. Coe is "shocked" to learn about IAAF corruption.

Genuine shock was Evan Davis trying to compute that Coe had not invited Seppelt to speak to him to tell him all he knew about dopers in athletics.
