The Champions League isn't really that much down to him. The team he has inherited is miles better than any team he has encountered in the tournament so far. Schalke, Basel, Galatasaray, PSG, Atletico, these are all teams chelsea would have been expected to beat regardless who the manager. Home field for second leg every time too.
Honestly if Manchester United had that draw people would be talking about how succesful his opening season was.
As a Manchester United supporter, i have to disagree with this I'm afraid. I mean If Moyes had United play so good, that you would before a game vs PSG or Atletico be confident about a victory, he would not have been sacked. Unfortunately it was not the case, when Bayern seriously needed goal and stopped their endless possession play, they got goals right away, literally. Beside, United was very close beeing kicked out by Olympiakos. So even do, as a United supporter, I would like to agree with you, I simply can not. United never played on a level this season, where it would make sence to excpect a victory against PSG or Atletico. If you look at how United did against top teams from Premier Leauge, you will also notice, how much they struggled against teams better than Southampton.
PSG is not a bad side at all, and to say that chelseas squad is miles better, is not something I would agree with at all. Marginally better, perhaps, but not miles better. Chelsea have some worldclass players yes, but so do PSG. Thiago Silva, Cavani, Zlatan and so on is not nobodies. Normally atletico would not be a world class side, that is true, but all that matters is what they are right now, when Chelsea is facing them. And this season they are ahead of Barcelona and Real Madrid, with 4 games to go in La Liga and they of course knocked out Barcelona in Champions Leauge. If that is not world class, I don't know what is. Beside, it is of course not like this is the first time Mourinho show's hiss skills in Champions Leauge.
