So there is still a chance of Dekker -> Garmin next year. At least good to hear that according to physical tests he is a 'top level competitor' again. The same tests last year were a disaster

it will be shocking if vaughters won't get him in the first team(probably it's even written in a contract).he's thomas dekker,i'm sure he will leave the team,he has other offers if that happens.

Ivan Basso?
David Millar?
Alexandre Vinokourov?

why dont i hear you about them? Vino never even admitted fully...

Multiple wrongs do not make a right.

Secondly what irks me most is that Dekker likes to project the image in the Dutch media that he's admitted to everything, when in reality he's admitted very little.

Get into the clinic. There is also Wiggins, Froome, Evans, Ullrich, Horner, Leipheimer, Cobo, Menchov, actually nearly all of the well known pro peloton and some.

Based on what? Speculations? Rumours?

Leipheimer failed a dope test. Horner riders for Hog ;) and yes a lot is speculation due to the UCI being a big fat joke, but it is speculation built on years of hindsight of the past history of the sport.

Looking forward to it. I think they will field him in smaller stage-races (PCT-level) first, and when he gets some race rythm and results then enter him in some WT races

And Thomas Dekker has gotten his deal with Garmin. Great for him, although I feel like vomiting.

according to the physical tests he is at a world class level. Vaughters said something about the top 5% on a physical plane

Top 5% of the population or top 5% of World Tour?

He was very average this year, so I don't expect much.

If top 5% of the population then he would not get signed at Garmin.
By the way, he didn't race any races that suited him except Volta a Portugal that was WAY too early.

So what kind of results did you expect? Winning flat Belgian kermesses? Haha

"We've done 18 months of testing on him to determine this," Vaughters said. "That included power tests every month and corresponding blood tests. His power should go up as his training increases, but his blood values shouldn't. That's exactly what happened, and his last tests when he won Duo Normand were world class."

The amount of talent in the Dutch rider coupled with his relative bargain contract price after his suspension gave Dekker the edge over other riders who were without contracts.

"Should I turn down an athlete who's in the top five per cent of guys from a physiological standpoint because he got caught [doping] when many others in his generation didn't get caught? That's a wrong decision.

they did tests again in october and they were extraordinary. he will be a huge thing next year again

So you expect him to go from being no where in Portugal to being top10 in T-A?

he was injured in portugal

it's so tiresome to read all these illinformed people. did you see druivenkoerse? that was september and he was in the 3 best riders of that race already and it's a race that didn't suit him. then he won duo normand a few weeks after that, his shape progress was massive after portugal and especially in october according to vaughters but he is perhaps making that up? he is already physically within the 5 best riders of garmin in tests

this would be perfectly normal looking at his talent.

don't get fooled people, his "disastrous" initial tests weren't exactly like that, the results were still that of a professional rider just not a top class one.but i knew after some time, the watts will come in nicely.

He will be as useless as in 2009. Johan Vansummeren did all the work in the Duo Normand, he practically won it on his own.

Fair enough, if he finishes top 8 in a WT race in 2012 (equivalent to 5%) I will admit that I was wrong :)

Because Dekker sucked up to a Belgian audience in De Laatste Show, saying that Vansummeren did most of the work in the final kilometres? Apparently it worked...

No, because that's what actually happened ;)

I didn't even watch that episode. He has done nothing to prove he's worth a big contract with a WT Team. Disgusting how people like him and Valverde find a big team so easily when people like Schumacher, Rebellin, Michael Rasmussen, Floyd Landis, etc are kept out of the WT for eternity.

There should be a new rule that forbids an (ex)-doper to return to a WT team right away for at least a year. And yeah, that would also include Contador if he gets banned.
