I'm confused - why didn't Walsh ask those questions?

Is Doping worse than Cheating on your Wife? I think NO.

Is accusing Lance of Doping more LUCRATIVE than accusing Tiger of cheating on his wife? I Think YES.
This is a thread for the Clinic.

To equate cheating on your wife and PED abuse is very misguided. You walk in to work tomorrow and your workmate confides in you that they are having an affair - does that force you to do the same? I think not (I decided not to use caps lock)

As for David Walsh - he has been covering a lot of sports over the last few years, I think if you check out his articles on rugby league, swimming and athletics you will find he is pretty consistent in his views.

As for how lucrative it is for DW to write about Lance? Let me put it this way - how many DW books do you own?
If you want to make money writing on Lance - you ask him what his favorite color is, not why EPO ended up in his urine samples.

Who cares about Tiger's endorsements at this point? So that he can make a second billion???

He'll get his stuff together and move on from this, with or without his family. I can't believe he has done as well as he has at golf with all these distractions in his life. Imagine what he could do with singular focus?

The link doesn't work, it goes to esquire, but there is nothing there. I would investigate the page for a 'permalink' and if none exists, post the relevant text with attribution.

I never understood why Tiger married. And this was long before any of this stuff came to light. Struck me as strange, but now I see he falls in love with every girl he screws. He is emotionally very much a juvenile.

On your last paragraph (in BOLD), I like my theory better. :) One person may criticize him for lying, another will criticize for womanizing. A third may come up with a different basis. Ultimately, he conflicts with the icon of perfection.

The VALUE of the image we so willingly buy is greater when our sense of who that person is rings true. We disagree on the people not caring about the values of the image being sold. Maybe not if the endorser is Paris Hilton or Allen Iverson (American basketball player). But to really pull down the huge money and become a transcendent icon, yes, the people definitely MUST say to themselves, 'That person's values align with mine.' Whether or not they actually do is irrelevant. Perception IS reality.

The Iverson's and Hilton's can still earn their living endorsing products, but they can't cross over to every level of society like a Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Peyton Manning.
Actually great points - and I stand corrected and agree with view. Which is why I enjoy this forum as there are some excellent posters who help form a rounded view. (Also I fixed the link in my original post, thanks!)

Yes - for some they would have felt let down or downright disgusted at his infidelity - for others it would be the number of 'transgressions' - it is not a one size fits all.

As you say perception is reality - when this story first broke and there were no women involved I was quite shocked to hear that he was hitting off somewhere at 2.30 in the morning. It seemed odd for such a professional person - of course now that all the craps hit the fan it seems a shock he was home at 2.30.

Oh, Polish - the amount of money we've raked in having had to have spoken about that hospital incident is just, um, unbelievable. I can finally afford to buy that Hermes Birkin bag. And because we know lance, he'll even talk about us - he especially is fond of me - publicly.

You should try accusing him, then you too can rake in the dough and be mentioned in the public.

Back on topic: think of how many skanks aren't even coming forward or those that haven't been "discovered". How is it possible that Uchitel reportedly gets 7 figures to keep quiet and then talks to a magazine?

So....am I the only one who is having a problem with this media feeding frenzy?
I would be a whole lot more angry with Woods if he had gotten caught for drugs. Yeah I know, the whole image and endorsement thing, and maybe I would feel different if I had ever bought a Gatorade because Tiger said I should, but I haven't, so I don't know.
To me this sort of thing should be settled in private. Not so much for him but for his family and mainly his wife.

Elin: "You ******* you've embarased me in front of the entire world."
Tiger: "Well if you hadn't killed the Escalade with a nine iron, they still wouldn't know."
At this point Elin's mom checks into the hospital with stomach pains.

So - Tiger is sinking putts with the hostesses while out clubbin.
His wife at home minding their kids - finds out about his rough play, shows anger. He hits a water and tree hazard while running like a fake tan.

And its her fault??

No no, I'm not saying that at all. What I'm saying is that maybe she too would rather have the choice to hash it out at home without the entire world hanging on every word. Let the world wait until it comes up in court, is all I'm saying.

The person presenting an argument is attacked instead of the argument itself. This takes many forms. For example, the person's character, nationality or religion may be attacked. Alternatively, it may be pointed out that a person stands to gain from a favourable outcome. Or, finally, a person may be attacked by association, or by the company he keeps.

There are three major forms of Attacking the Person:

o Ad hominem (abusive): instead of attacking an assertion, the argument attacks the person who made the assertion.
o Ad hominem (circumstantial): instead of attacking an assertion the author points to the relationship between the person making the assertion and the person's circumstances.
o Ad hominem (tu quoque): this form of attack on the person notes that a person does not practise what he preaches.

Ah - got it!
Yes - I am sure she would like the opportunity to do this in private. While for us it is an unseemly 'reality TV' show - for her it is her marriage, future and dignity.

Hopefully she has good people surrounding her.

Oh, I am sorry, I thought you were making a joke, I didn't realize your post was that serious. But now I am sorry I insulted you when you thought you were making a serious point based upon your expertise.

Yes, I would bet that there is something going on somewhere close by, the exposing of which would make life better for a number of people. A crooked politician, some sort of organized crime, or something. You know, the kind of things that reporters used to work towards uncovering?
We really have become a stupid society.

I'm just saying Adultery is a much worse offense than Doping.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adultery

According to the UCI Handbook(Unitarian Compendium Infractivus):
Adultery....Mortal sin go straight to Hell
Doping....two Our Fathers three Hail Marys' and a two year suspension

Luckily, thank God, there are a couple of LoopHoles.
First is Forgivness.
Second, you can escape punishment "because you bribed the UCI $500,000"

Ok - I see what you are saying - a moral debate.

Problem is a lot of people don't believe in the UCI :)
