Sucks for Mas about yesterday, and today wasn't necessarily the best finish for him either with cobbles and what not. Could have potentially won the race, but then again, so could 4-5 other riders as well, because Primoz sure as hell didnt look strong yesterday, so if its not shortened and we dont get a strong headwind, this race could have looked very different.

Roglic was super strong today though, and he gets to win T-A which is an important race missing. Imagine if he hadn't *** Paris-Nice and Dauphine up.
He won the 2019 edition.

Mas really pushed Pogacar on these finishes in Andalucia, I expected a little bit more of him today. He was definitely unlucky with the wind on Sassotetto tho

Oh, thats my bad, I have been out of the loop since Lombardia. Back to spending time on PCS!

I expect a bit more from him today as well, but its hard to really to damage today I think. He shoulda won it yesterday, but oh well.

Mas seasons are not like others seasons. He starts with social riding in spring and get better with TdF to peak at vuelta and later races. Isn't it a rule? :grinning:

Also I cannot believe I'm saying this; but what should UAE have done today that would give a better result than the result they got? Was there any way Almeida or anyone else from UAE would win the stage against Rogla? I don't see it. As much as Almeida really does memeworthy things repeatedly I struggle to see how they could've done it better than they did?

I think Roglic has better 1-3 minute W/kg, but I don't think he beats Pogacar for pure speed. Especially at the end of a hard race Pogacar loses nothing on his sprint while Roglic' falls off quite hard.
Yes, for sure he does. He becomes maybe like 20th best if that :).
In all seriousness 3 consecutive wins is not bad at all for a guy who was not even supposed to race this week. I hepe for a really good season for Rogla.

Let Roglic close the gap. Then, after that, another thing he could have done better, was: let Roglic close the gap. Then, he could continue to let Roglic close the gap. And after that, he could not close the gap himself, but get in Roglic' wheel and let him close the gap. Lots of things he could have done differently.

IMO they should’ve been attacking with McNulty/Yates and have Almeida sit on Roglic’s wheel. Either Roglic has to do some work or you get a rider in the group up the road! Worst case scenario they end up in the exact same finishing situation as today but now you have a chance at winning GC either with the breakaway group or with a more tired Roglic in the finale

Can't fault Almeida for being Almeida. Can't fault Roglic for being the ultimate stomper.
Yeah, I mean, Almeida is doing as well as could be expected. I don’t think many people would rate him over Roglic, and he’s just 18 seconds behind. So both are doing really well racing their way…

Odds of Jumbo hard pacing the climbs tomorrow to drop all the sprinters that aren't Van Aert?

You mean the Champs Elysee leadout comedy?
Dropping the sprinters in Tirreno for his teammate.

Anybody know what's up with Arensman? In Valencia i thought it was nothing to worry about, early season. In Algarve he had the excuse of having a mechanical before Foia, and then again some issues on Malhao. But he did a very good TT, so still no red flags. But today losing over 2 minutes on Van Aert, Kämna, Alaphilippe, Pidcock... Yesterday he was also well off the pace when a group of 17 stayed together and went to the finish. Not even top 25 on either stage.

I just saw Roglic now has a bigger GC gap to the 2nd than Pogacar to the 2nd of Paris-Nice:

Roglic 18 secs on Almeida, Pogacar 12 secs on Gaudu.

Quite surprising. Roglic surprisingly strong in Tirreno, and Gaudu incredibly good in Paris-Nice.

If Primoz starts the Tour 2023, the podium should be decided between Pog, Rog, Vingegaard and Gaudu. Great to see Gaudu on one level with these three big guns…

To be fair, if there had been a TT in both instead of a TTT in PN, the gaps would be huge. Gaudu has been very impressive though on the climbs for sure and the TT suits him about as well as you could hope in the Tour. Only way it could be better if there weren't one, it was much shorter or just went straight up a mountain.

And the last two can be combined quite nicely.

Not sure what is up with Julian, but he seems far of pace atm. Hope he will get ready for the classics.. but he seems to have much catching up to do/

Far of pace seems a bit too much. He's not amazing, but today the top was mostly made of climbers. The other day he was beaten by Roglic, which doesn't indicate bad form per se... I just hope he didn't have to go too deep today, but could actually use this race as training. At Strade Bianche he looked worse in comparison to where he should have been there.
