removed the gravel part (so not a carbon splinter) in his knee on sunday, he trained afterwards. That went well, now he's on altitude camp.
The race against time goes on

So, no metal?
They've been doing MRI's, metal never made sense the first place.

If it was that easy to remove, why did they leave it in in the first place?
God knows. It's Sunweb. Maybe they ran a simulator on it and it didn't show up as recommended in the kpi performance metrics

I mean, *** like this just pisses me off. Ineptitude, stupidity, defying any logic... messing with rider's carreers and/or health. It's something that's irked me beyond belief with Lotto, but it seems Sunweb is not much better, even though they try to hide behind a front of rules and scientific approach/methods.

So it seems there was no metal splinter after all and they removed the source of the irritation.
As Tom's form wasn't that bad I'm still hopeful that he will start the Tour (or at least the third week of it) in good form and then who knows what will happen in Froome's abscence.

Metal was just completely misunderstood cause they thought it was carbon, which isn't a metal.

The same simulator that says Oomen and Kelderman are the only 2 climbers you need in your entire squad besides Dumoulin

Great, metal sounded much worse than carbon or gravel.

It would have been, considering they found it on an MRI

I still don't understand why it wasn't removed a few weeks ago. Gravel (or carbon) makes a lot more sense than metal ever made. As his form should still be good, hoping he can have a good Tour.

At the Giro, they did have a medical X-Ray truck and Dumoulin had an X-Ray determine nothing was broken. I would imagine from that X-Ray, he probably never got an MRI scan, just treatment on it then from team doctor and physio. I don't even know if an MRI scan was used. You wouldn't normally go to the expense of an MRI unless you were having serious issues the X-Ray wasn't picking up.

They didn't initially find it due to the swelling IIRC

But it sounds like they had found it prior to the Dauphine, but figured he’d just try and ride through it? Now that it’s out with a seemingly innocuous procedure you really have to wonder why they didn’t just get it when they found it.

wtf are they doing lol.. if he starts now he is insane. I just don't see him doing it. If he has that many doubts, why would you?
