Looks like I guessed wrong and he's not replacing Valenciana with another race and instead waiting all the way until Tirreno.

That also means that Froome, after his almost career ending injury, will have a shorter race break than Tom if he appears at the UAE Tour.
Tirreno will be a weird race for Dumoulin. In one hand he should feel like he has a lot to prove immediately but on the other he hasn't raced for ages and he never shined in March.

I'm getting really worried now. Illness for Valencia wasn't a big deal. But to postphone the start of the season again? Makes me think this is something mentally wrong.

For different reasons, this increasingly feels like an Andy situation with multiple stop and starts and hoping for a return to fitness at the highest level. Hope we can see him back at the top at some point this year.

Bernal just called Roglic his biggest challenger.

That hurt him right in the feels

This is sounding like there's more going on. Like the injury isn't healing or isn't healing as expected. To cancelled T-A this far out feels really odd.

I don't know what's stranger, that he's bailing on Tirreno and MSR so early or that he quoted "the great philosopher Run DMC" :tearsofjoy:

My take is there's no panic, but they don't have a definite diagnosis and are simply being overly cautious. It's not like he can't race TA/MSR but that they don't want him to do races before altitude, which is where TJV are crazy about their schedules.

And he just moved there because Sunweb were suffocating him with their rules and schedules.

And... if he were riding Valencia, what would have been the difference? He would have been riding before altitude as well, no?

Hence "supposedly". He was in Spain to start the race. Whatever the problem is now, that is keeping him away from TA and MSR, can not have been (deemed) a problem a week before Valencia or obviously he wouldn't have traveled there with the team to begin with.

Or they had hoped things were ok right before Valencia and something showed it (whatever it was) was worse.

Gastrointestinal problems apparently. Not bad to take your time to recover.

On the other hand ... there was a time that those issues didn't stop Dumoulin from winning the Giro.
