Perhaps a way of looking at the problem would be to come up with a super team containing 10 riders who between them could win all the world tour races? (including individual stages!) You could then choose another 15 riders to support but would not win.

How close to total domination could you get and which 10 riders would give you the best chance of winning all or nearly all of the races?

I agree that a monument win > TDF 2nd though.

If your including evans career palmares then surely he should be in your list for the past couple of years, since they have been the most successful of his entire career

2002: Michele Bartoli(better cyclist than Andy)
2003: Michele Bartoli(^)
2004: Damiano Cunego(better cyclist than Andy)
2005: Paolo Bettini(better cyclist than Andy)
2006: Paolo Bettini in his rainbow jersey crying while he passes the finish and points at the sky to pay respect to his brother who died the week before. BETTER THAN ANDY.
2007: Damiano Cunego(better than Andy)
2008: Damiano Cunego(better than Andy)
2009: Philippe Gilbert(better than Andy)
2010: Philippe Gilbert(^)

I don't remember second or third places at the Tour.

No, you said nobody remembers 20 years after the event. These are all recent winners. 20 years ago please. Get Googling...

Don't have to. I don't know what years exactly anymore but the winners were Oscar Camanzind, Mirko Celestino, Laurent Jalabert, Pascal Rischard(olympic champ), Tony Rominger, Sean Kelly.

I don't know who got second in 2000-2008 Tour. Ullrich a few times, Evans a few times, but that's it...

10 pages of discussion and not ONE mention of Marianne Vos. Do I have to do everything myself around here? I would have expected at least someone to pre-empt me on it!

I did. on velorooms.;)

also predicted you would put sven nys in and prayed you wouldnt insult our beloved sport by putting fake cyclists like rossi as you did last time.

Add to potential: Mollema, Poels, Pinot, Rolland

Isn't mollema 26 years old? If we are taking potentials from that age group there is this kenyan rider.

A 2nd place in the Tour is the 2nd best result a rider can achieve. Better than a Monument, Giro win or a WC win.

Each his own but i definitely don't see a 2nd in the tour as being better or as good as a giro win. i don't think indurains palmares for example would be as glamorous if it was 5 tours and 2 runner up spots at the tour.

1. Evans (probably the 1st legitimate winner of the Tour for many years except for Sastre - monumental achievement)
2. Andy (see above, but with a lesser palmares than Cuddles)

Care to show us your proof against perreiro then ?

Of course he does. he usually mocks and laughs at schleck for coming 2nd last year and explains how happy it still makes him feel. i think he was being sarcastic.

Of course I know, but I don't know who got second in 2000-2006. I know Ullrich got a lot of second places, but what year exactly and who else? I don't know...

what's wrong with this guy's list? That's very similar to all after Contador's deduction. My list probably would be very close to that but I don't like any tops.

As far as through list goes, nothing.

But he's bringing doping into the discussion and implying the he kno ws Evans and schleck are clean but perreiro isnt

that belongs in the clinic.

As a matter of fact, there *is* more evidence against Pereiro than against Evans and Candy.

Andy doesn't belong there. Nowhere in the top 10 he belongs. I'm sorry, but if you can't even win the only race you peak for, you fail.

It's the matter of perception and prestigiousness. For instance, I think getting top-5 even in the Vuelta is much harder than winning Lombardy, PR or even PR+TF.

I believe, such maximalism helps you in your life.

It's his opinion, it's a free country here except not too much joke is allowed. :D :p
