The battle for 5/6 will be interesting as I have no idea how good Steven K is at TT's and Landa can do both good and really bad TTs. So who knows what happens there.
There should be no contest there, Steven Kruijswijk is a better time triallist.

I'll keep an eye on Latour's performance, a top-5 would be huge, a top-10 ok-ish.

I know I'm old, but for the life of me I can't recall Landa ever doing a 'good' time trial. What am I missing?
I think everybody expected him to do poorly in the long ITT during 2016 Giro, but he ended up with one of the better times among GC contenders. Just 7 seconds behind Nibali, ahead of Valverde, Kruijswijk, Fuglsang, Uran etc.

Since then, he also rode a decent last TT in the TdF last year. To finish 15th on such course (plain flat apart from just one short hill) was not bad.

Thanks, so he has done at least 2 decent TTs. Certainly better showings than my (failing) memory gave him credit for. Crushweak will still crush him :).

2016s Giro time trial is a bad example...heavy rain forced the GC guys to soft pedal. No one was taking any risk.

top 10 is full of Sky and Sunweb

Them two, Movistar and Sky have a huge advantage over the rest when it comes to their gear (bikes+kits).

This is also why for me timetrialing has become a farce. Has more to do with aerospace engineering than with cycling.

See how Lotto became one of the best teams in TTT by spraying paint over their knees

I think I'm going to weep....on NBCSN they are saying the rumors are that Sky is going to sign Bernal for 5 years. OMG he's To Good to become anything other than leader/winner, not a Sky slave :(.
In fairness, he's gotten to lead at almost every race he's done this year. I really don't see much dom duty for him in the future, even at Sky. I'd say he will likely even lead a GT next year.

Bernal would be their leader. He's a generational talent. I doubt they're stupid enough to waste his talent towing Geraint around during the next 5 years.

But how will they make him more British.
