No. He still needs to win a stage race. IMO, the gap from first to second is pretty huge, no matter who you slot in as second.

Imagine a GT with two ITTs proper. The Schlecks would not have even made the podium. Last year Andy had the good fortune of Fabs on the cobbles. No such luck this year. Grand Tours are won by masters of all disciplines. They were given everything this year, a token TTT and sub-50K ITT at the end of a mountainous block of stages. Cadel Evens is a true Grand Tour rider. What a great ride.

So happy for Evans. Congratulations.
(I hope the Australian forumers don't go too crazy here)

I hope this Tour will be a lesson for Andy. He lost the Tour in the Pyrenees and he almost won it in the one stage where he gave it a real go.

Looking at the podium presentations... Cav's been close to his coveted green jersey for a 2-3 years too, so it's great he's got his.

And Euskaltel - how many times have they been in the breaks, challenging and striving for the polka jersey. Now they have it.

A fairy tale tour!

I guess I didn't word that well....
Was trying to say that he is the eternal runner-up, thus 2nd best...

Super happy to see Cadel win, sorry to say that I can never imagine Andy will ever win one.

I understood what you meant. I think that designation is a slight to folks like Cadel, Basso and Nibali who've actually won a grand tour and other stage races. I want Andy to try and actually win a stage race--which should be feasible given his considerable talent.

He was commentating on the live stream, which doesn't go to commercial. He was also waxing on about crap...basically filling time

Ah, thanks for that. Facts are good. I still can't wait for him to retire.;)

Such heart Contador has. Went out guns blazing today, even with his rubbish form, faded in the second half, but still, hats off.

So happy for Cadel, and also Tony.
