"Need" is overstating it. I'll give you that they "may want to", but I don't think that would necessarily be smart of them.

This is Kwiat's terrain. He is way more useful on flats and descents then anyone else, so better to use him over the whole descent and flat rather than for a bit on the mountains.

There's absolutely no reason why he would.
Sure by all accounts he's an ***, but he's not violent. It's just fans overreacting in the moment.

Exactly. Nobody is seriously claiming that Quintana (or any rider for that matter) would do that deliberately to Contador. Still, it was a rather weird incident.

And now it seems that we have about forty boring kms until this starts getting REALLY interesting on Mont Du Chat, and if Contador is dropped convincingly then us fans will have another 12 months (or the rest of our lives) of asking what if (not for these crashes)?

Apparently Pantano is waiting for the yellow jersey group. I'd have kept him in the front group, he's super fast in a sprint.

Flo, he is awful . I'm pretty sure he wouldn't survive mont du chat

Never really came off as an elite climber, displayed similar last year but made up on the descents and has a very strong sprint...would have made for an exciting display possibly

Several people on this thread suggested or stated it was intentional. Seemed not to make sense so I asked. Thanks for all the replies.

Even with Betancur up front, and Valverde and Herrada's crashes, it's pretty bad Movistar still have no one with Quintana considering the pace. Amador and Castroviejo should really have been able to survive until now. Should have brought Soler, Carapaz or Fernandez instead of Sutterlin
