Is DQS all-in in the grupetto? If they OTL, they are (theoretically) gone from the Tour as a team? Has that ever happened? :D

edit: ah Ala of course.
But that would be even funnier if Ala wins the stage while everyone else has to go.
They have a guy in the break. It's probably his job to keep the break's pace at a level manageable for Cav to get in under the limit.

Other teams are losing riders, though; Tony Martin and Tosh vdSande have both already climbed off today.

Hardly anything so far makes sense for me, tactically.

I assume that Ineos are going to trying to drop/put into difficulty as many of the riders around Carapaz as possible without getting too close to the break. If that happens then see how Pogacar is going? I dunno, seems logical. GT, Hart, Kwiat, Porte etc still have a lot of collective power if they're all on a good day.

On a side note: remember when Rolland would have been climbing with the favorites?

Ineos pulling is the GM sending a message. We know the same behavior from bad teams missing the break. For Ineos its basically the same. The GM saying "you still have to do the train all day, even if every single one of you is to slow to content the yellow. no easy way out of your traditional ineos responsibilities"

To expand on the possible time limit. If the average speed of the winner is 33-34kph, then the time limit is around 40 minutes. If the average speed is 40 kph the time limit is around 50 minutes. And fairly linear in between.

(If my calculations are correct.)
