Even then, from what I remember Pogacar isn't as liked as Roglic in Slovenia which points to the distaste towards complete domination without struggle.

I'm a Roglic man! But I don't dislike Pogacar. I too want a hotly contested TdF but I'm not gonna whine like a baby if a great rider dominates. I will enjoy the spectacle of his victory.

How is this madness, if they want to win against Pogacar they need to believe Vingegaard can beat him on the mountains. Therefore they can also want to go for the stage win.
I was joking. They weren't helping, they were going for the sprint obviously.

And if they want to beat Pogačar, they will have a hard time beating (almost impossible) him mano a mano. They need to find other ways. Helping the UAE team in the chase when they are clearly commited is not the right way.

Honestly probably the best option for Bora this move. Break wasn't working great at all and the way this just ripped apart at the first rise just shows that a reduced 5 men group will probably better for their chances.

People like winners if they have the 'story'

they came through severe circumstance and against the odds they won
they had to fight and fight to eventually win
they endured hardship to win
they won, then something happened and they didn't win for a while and then they won again...comeback kid

You can admire Pogacar as a gifted talent but as a non Slovenian you cant really love him without a story. He is just a very good athlete

I'd like to add that you can also like a rider if they win in style and are entertaining. What you listed doesn't apply to Sagan either for example (whom I dispise) who is very much liked by a lot of people.

Good move by Bora, it at least gives the break some level of motivation that they can still succeed.

What is the temperature in France? Looks hot which is good because Pogi seems a little bit more human

I’ve never been much of a nationalist when it comes to cycling. The only time I really cheered for my own countryman to win was LeMond, and even then I wanted Delgado to win also. I liked Julich and Van de Velde, but was always a bigger fan of the Spanish mountain goats.
