Only way it could have gone better for UAE is if Pog caught up to take second and the more seconds while Vinge still finished 4th or if Pog won and Vinge finished 4th still. Pog just has to stay on Vinge’s wheel and sprint away. It isn’t like Vinge and JV haven’t been putting in a lot of work as well.
It is tomorrow or Col de Loze where the Tour will be decided, if one cracks there... it is probably over.

I don't know why people keep on saying the climb suits Pog, with the insinuation he could have taken big time here. It seems like goalpost shifting to me.

A climb is a climb & Pog is now consistently beating Vinge by a bigger margin on these types of finishes than last year. I seriously doubt Jumbo expected to lose the jersey here or anything like that.

The only reason Grand-Colombier is genuinely better for Pog is because he has a better mountain sprint.
It's is not goalpost shifting, rather it's a simple assessment of Pog's qualities. This is a climb with moderate gradients, low altitude, and a little ramp at the end that is perfectly suited for an explosive climber (why do you think Pidcock finished so close). What is surprising is that UAE did Jumbo's work for them, so in the end Pogi only managed to take 4 seconds. If they kept the pace lower and Pogi would have done the same explosive attack, probably Vingegaard couldn't have followed for as long as he did.

Pogi doing Purito may very well be enough to give him the victory if he survives Wednesday.
He doesn't need a longer range attack (yet) and neither does Vingegaard. The gap between the two suggests we may get a pretty meh racing in the remaining stages.

Pidcock looks impressive, but I still want to see how he goes in the multi mountain stages.

Do you think he'll be better than Rodriguez?

If he was feeling strong enough, he could have gone before it flattened out tbf and then used his TT ability
I dont think Pogi was feeling that great either, I saw him pouring a lot of water on himself during the climb, Jonas looked ice cold. Also they looked quite unhappy with Grosschartner's rhythm and Majka didnt pull for that long either.

Totally agree. Col de la Loze is the day.

IMO, Pogacar is riding like a guy who feels like he needs to bank mere seconds. Reeks of insecurity and concern.

Bonus seconds should be scrapped. Without them racing might be different. Now, people just wait for final metres to outsprint each other.

Only thing I’m now thinking is that Pogi needed to let Yates and Kuss go. Let Vingo close the gap if he won’t let Yates far ahead like yesterday.

But he gained seconds. Closer in GC. Hard days coming up. Let jumbo do the work from now on.

Yes, but we are later in the Tour now, where fatigue is a larger factor.

Then he attacked at 2.6 K, now that distance will be shorter.
So you're telling me that next time he will attack only in the last 200-300 m due to fatigue, if I understood correctly?
