Logical outcome is Kuss drilling it on the steep part of the last climb then mano a mano between Vinge and Pog. The rest don't matter. Hope Pog can gang on.
It definitely matters how hard the stage have been raced up to entering Clermont-Ferrand proper and final climb.Logical outcome is Kuss drilling it on the steep part of the last climb then mano a mano between Vinge and Pog. The rest don't matter. Hope Pog can gang on.
Of course they gave pogi a free pull all day. Jumbo should be more flexible and change tatics during the race, when the plan A don't work. Vingegaard should stop pulling on tourmalet after not being able to drop pogacar. In the last climb, he also shouldn't attack and just follow pogacar's wheel. He had an advantage of 52 s to pogacar and hindley was losing more than 2 minutes.True, but I think there is something to criticism that Jumbo gave Pogi a free pull all day and up Cauterets-Cambasque. Can Jumbo create a scenario where they make Pogi work?
When Jonas smashed Pogi last year up the Granon, if I recall correctly, Pogi used energy early in the day chasing Wout's accelerations a few times.
Yes but they will be all gone when MVDP and WVA attack 50 km from the finish. All that sounds plausible, except if that 20 man break goes, Skjelmose will be one of them, so will Gall, so will Madouas, so will Johannesen![]()
Besides that, Vingegaard was so naive! He shouldn't not be a so nice guy inside the bike. He even not asked pogacar to pull on cambasque after his attack. He needs to be more sly.
True and it kind of depends how long it will take to form and who will be in the break. Would be nice to see some top 10 guys sneaking in it. But Jumbo should control a showdown between their captain and Pog.It definitely matters how hard the stage have been raced up to entering Clermont-Ferrand proper and final climb.
That‘s almost 1850 VAM for Bahamontes.View: https://twitter.com/NaichacaCycling/status/1677782246504243200
Check out that wild ass thermonuclear time from Bahamontes in 1959, I wonder how heavy the bikes and equipment were back then, he won't've been full skelator either, probably some insane W/KG.
Bardet only did 16'45 recently too apparently

To get in the mood I've been watching some of the previous editions. Big names have taken some beatings on this climb.
1988: Danish rider Johnny Weltz wins it from the breakaway. Delgado drops Rooks to expand his lead.
1986: Swiss rider Erich Maechler wins it from the breakaway. LeMond drops Hinault to expand his lead.
1983: Angel Arroyo wins the time trial. Fignon finishes tenth at 1'48", but will go on to win the Tour.
1978: Zoetemelk wins the mountain time trial of 52 km. Hinault, en danseuse in the French jersey, loses time, but will hit back in the flat time trial later.
1976: Zoetemelk and Van Impe attack together. The first wins the stage, but the latter wins the Tour.
1975: Van Impe wins solo. Merckx receives a punch from a spectator and loses the Tour to Thévenet.
1973: Ocaña wins solo and will win the Tour. Van Impe is a close second.
1964: Julio Jimenez wins solo. In a legendary duel Poulidor and Anquetil ride next to each other, touching elbows at one point. Poupou drops his rival , but falls 14 seconds short of yellow.
And then there are the wins of Coppi, Bahamontes and Gimondi, but there aren't many images of those.
The nicest result would be Powless...and most of the team, including Powless, backed off earlier in today's stage...I think they have plans.Just hope someone other than Vinny and Teddy will win this. Sure I want them to fight it out but I want a win for someone else..most likely from the break
Ciccone, Landa , Pinot , Woods, Haig, Uran, Chaves, Lutsenko,
Simon Geschke, G Martin or SKjelmose ???????????
Lots to chose from
Accept that he's one of two of a kind. It's comments like this that that get me riled up. Same as all those "The Tour is over" comments when Vingegaard came out on top at Laruns. Jeez I hate casual opportunistic fans.Pogi gonna go for the kill. He’s one of a kind.
Wow, none of those times were set in the 90s. Was 1983 a raging tailwind? Bahamontes time on a heavy old bike is incredible. Now I know why Liggett always mentioned him. A truly amazing stat. Thanks for adding to the anticipation for tomorrow.View: https://twitter.com/NaichacaCycling/status/1677782246504243200

Puy de Dôme hasn’t been raced since 1988, so it got to survive 90s onslaught of climbing recordsWow, none of those times were set in the 90s. Was 1983 a raging tailwind? Pogi will win this and grab another 40-50 sec. But I still think vingegaard will be stronger in the third week to secure his second maillot jaune.
