Pretty crazy that this climb been in the race 1910.

Henri Desgrange sent someone in the middle of the winer to check the climb out.

The taxi only drove the man a bit into it, then said "you are on your own now". The man made it to the top and almost died, because it was so cold, but was cared for on the other side of the mountain.

Then telegraphed to Paris that is was fine to use it.

At least that is the story that I was just told. I think it might be embellished slightly.

I think it's a true story. Bastian Emil is also telling it now and I have heard it many times before, also in books that claim to be more critical of the sources than regular cycling literature.

Yeah let Ben Healy who is 12 minutes behind in GC get 30 minutes. Then Vinge and Pog can compete for 2nd place. Brilliant plan.

I don’t get UAE at all, but all means peg the gap about 7 mins but have they worked it out yet that but is up to Jonas to drop Pogi, not the other way around. Pure hubris from Pogi, bit him the other day, could easily bite him again
