Are you deliberately missing the point or...

There's no race between Carapaz and Jorgenson for KoM points because it is mathematically impossible for Jorgenson to win the KoM competition. Therefore it was clearly not done as a fight for the point, but just to spite UAE/Carapaz. Obviously. And fair enough if you think that was a reasonable move, but no need to lie to yourself that it was a move made out of pure racing intention
Thank God everyone here can read minds. 🙄

You think Tratnik and Geniets are better climbers than Buitrago and Gee?
To add onto that: Bardet, Enric Más, Carapaz, and Kelderman are all WAY better climbers if you base it on their palmarés. How many GT podiums do Gee and Buitrago have? Mtn stage wins? A good result in the Dauphiné and 1 GT fighting for the lower half positions in the Top 10 doesn’t make one a more impressive climbers than a Giro winner and a guy with multiple TdF podiums, 3 Vuelta podiums, plus a podium and GT Top 5 in Kelderman. Plus Soler is no slouch on the climbs when he rides for himself.

Alright, so your point is that when its mathematically impossible to win the jersey, riders are not allowed to sprint for points.

Does that also apply to the green jersey and the people sprinting for points when they cant win it?
Should Coquard be vilified or DQ for winning sprints when hes mathematically out of the green jersey race?
I know that you're semi-baiting but I'll bite...

It's about motivation, at the end of the day. It's not that Jorgenson isn't allowed to sprint for KoM when he's out of the race, but it's about why he would do so. When Coquard sprints for intermediate points, he's doing it for sponsor/bonuses, and to keep a strong position in points classification. In your honest, genuine opinion – why did Jorgenson sprint for the KoM points there?

But also, please be serious. Nobody has said Jorgenson should be DQed, I don't get why you're so worked up about this.

(the other reason is that there is no guarantee that Girmay or Philipsen won't get time cut)

It's not really reading minds, it's just looking at likelihood of motivation. It's not that deep, but I don't get why people are pretending Jorgenson did that completely innocently, nobody reasonably can think that. If you think that Jorgenson had every right to get one back at Carapaz, fine and I think that's a fair point! If you think that Jorgenson did that in the spirit of racing, then be fr
