I wouldnt say never.

The giro returned to a classic route last year.
And that was more or less shite.

The best Giros in the last 20-25 years have also been some of the most mountainous. Especially including combos like Finestre-Sestriere, Mortirolo-Aprica and more of that kind.

Glandon + Loze, but no Madeleine? That would mean a freakin long flat stretch in the middle of the stage. If they include Madeleine it would at least be a stage of moderate length and with three big climbs. Although not a good design, it would be tough.
Yeah it looks like Madeleine has to be involved

They could go around......

Usually they don't do 3 that big climbs in one stage any more. The only exceptions I can rembeber in the later years would be a couple of MTFs at Alpe d'Huez where they did two of Galibier/Madeleine and Croix de Fer first.

I'm starting to like the route in the second and third week, if the rumours are real.

Col de la Loze is much more interesting than Alpe, will create bigger gaps, and it will be preceded by glandon and madeleine.

La Plagne is a decent MTF, after montee bisane.

Mont ventoux always delivers.

I am fine with a MTT to peyragudes, even if a MTT to a more difficult climb would be better.

Port bales+ superbagneres are fine.

Spandelles + hautacam are a good combination.

Monte dore and mur de bretagne are some good medium stages.

This route is just missing 1/2 mountain stages like puy de dome or LPDBF in the first week.

I hope they put a ITT of 50/60 km.

Key word „if the Rumours are true”.

Pogacar gonne murder everyone on loze. Like its an impossible task to create a route for them regarding suspense when Pogacar is just so much better than everyone in every terrain there is. They can only try their best. Best way for suspense would be zero MTF and zero mountains at all but then again..impossible.

Regarding the route I personally like Loze and Ventoux dont really understand the weekend stages if those are to be true though.

About the Col de la Loze rumours: What if everyone is right? Alpe d'Huez is still on, via Glandon and possibly Gran Cucheron, whereas Loze is the big climb in the middle of the stage towards La Plagne? Col de la Loze and La Plagne on two different stages would mean, that they visit the same area twice, which for images, attention and promotion wouldn't be ideal.

It’s wild that after these years or so- we still don’t know what’s a Pog or Jonas route. It just underscores how hard it is to sort them out. I thought Pog wilted in the heat but he sure seemed good in the heat this year.

No more Alpe d'Huez it seems. But LFR is saying it is in serious consideration to feature in 2026. If the rumors are true, Loze MTF will be on stage 18 via Glandon and most likely Madeleine. Stage 19 is the MTF to La Plagne.

Well, if these current route rumors were presented a year or two years ago, we'd immediately be saying this would be hands down, a Jonas route. But after Pogi really elevated his level in the mountains in 2024, especially in the long climbs, we can say it suits them both equally. And as you said, Pogi seems to have gotten much better too in dealing with the heat.

No, if they climb 2/3 times mur bretagne.
That would make it better, but it would stille be much a waiting game for the last time, especially if the finish at the top.

The best way to have a hilly stage would be a steep like a distance from the finish followed by a couple of easier climbs closer to finish. Like 2 km, 10 % at 25 km from finish with easier climbs 15 and 8 km from finish.

Long very steep climbs are good for Jonas and big ITT in 3rd week, everything else is good for Pog. Many reasons we didn't see that this year of course. Still, Jonas was pretty close to Pog on PdB.

10 watts? Could you elaborate? I think he was very close in level, but tactically he was in a tough spot.

By Chronowatts.

Vingegaard was 10 Watts slower than Pogacar on Plateau de beille.

Pogacar 473 Watts
Vingegaard 463 Watts.

Standard powers (70 kg).
