But if we focus on the sprint and not on the 'accident'.

- OPQS failed to bring Cav in a good position. He probably thought he was in Kittels wheel but it turned out it was Veelers.
- Didn't expect Kittel to overtake Greipel in the sprint. Did Greipel go to early or was he just not good enough today?

Looks to me like it was an accident. Veelers makes a little move to the right, maybe lack of concentration cause he was spent. Cav makes a move to the left to get into the slipstream and they collide. I understand that Veelers is mad but i don't think anyone should get disqualified here.

To call this an accident is far out. To me it is clear that Cavendish deliberately "shouldered" his opponent. Imagine the roar if it had been a top GT guy who was sent into the asphalt like that. I will be very surprised if it's true that the jury won't do anything about this!

are you insane? this statement is nonsensical that "top GT guys" (I assume you meant GC) dont make contact so sprinters shouldnt ever make contact either. You have very successfully made the opposite argument you intended to by pointing out that sprinters gonna sprint.

You have to "shoulder" the other guy if you come together - otherwise you'll lose balance and go down.

I know, but ok, so let's just say that Veelers lost his balance and ended up kissing the asphalt. His own fault then ..

I guess you could say I was insane if I responded to this. Come on, life is too short for low levels

So Greipel bumps T Martin on stage 1 leading to a huge pile-up and Martin left in a bad state, nothing is said.

Cav bumps the Argos guy (who tried to block him) and everyone wants him out! Funny old world.

Those who are shouting for Cav to be DQ should also be shouting for Greipel, the whole of OG and Hesedal (knocking Kennaugh into ditch and not stopping to pull him out) to be DQ

Even though I think that Cav has pretty much no fault there, (Veelers knowingly steered to right to block Cav) I still hate the attitude of these bots, who are just summoning to defend their riders

How many riders did that idiot Ferrari put on the deck? Too many! For a move like that he has to be kicked off the Giro - no question!
Goodbye Roberto Ferrari - No public apology is gonna cut it!

I bet that this guy posts here

But they shouldn't have come together in the first place. Cav tried to go through Veelers instead of going around him.

Anyway, It's a shame that everybody is so focused on the crash because it was a great sprint by Kittel and he deserves more credit.

Not to forget Hesjedal leaning into Kennaugh causing him to fall down a ravine. Just racing incidents. Unfortunate but **** happens.

Argos will issue a complaint if the jury doesn't act.

It's an unfortunate series of events, but the fact remains that Cav didn't hold his line.

I'd say the opposite. Given that the finish line was on the left hand corner it was Veelers who didn't hold his line. Very marginal though so I wouldn't place any blame either way.

Dont get me wrong. @MarkCavendish is not a crazy sprinter. Never has been, never will be. He has speed. Today was a mistake by him IMO.

So many people complain that the worst thing about our sport are dull stages.

Maybe bad thought-out rules/course, or Snoozefest/Borefest stages.

The worst things are firstly are the journalists that love to question any major victory (Clinic) but a close second are 'fans' who just want to slag certain competitors off.

Personally I want the guy to Win Who DESERVES IT !!

Whatever Team/Nationality etc - I don't care - you can hold me to it.

Cavendish FKD up today before the crash, not because of it; or as a result of it. And I believe he would have avoided it altogether if he knew it would have taken the Argos guy down.

Kittel - a great win - but it was largely uncelebrated on the forum by peoples hurry to slap others rather than congratulating him??!!

In fact the posts after his win saying 'well done' were almost none existent.

I just wish folk would Live and Let Live.

If your guy wins - great. I will be happy too !

Lets not make this sport a sister of football eh?? Please.

Just seen the sprint. I believe I didn't move line. I'm actually coming past Veelers & we touch elbows when he moves. Anyway, hope he's ok.
Wow just wow, apologize at least arrogant baby boy! Very disappointed he wasn't relegated or suspended from the Tour.

I agree.

Anyway, the race jury has decided that Veelers was to blame.

Not seen a replay of the final yet, but was involved in an incident with Tom Veelers. Whatever has happened, if I'm at fault, I'm sorry.
