Dean and Hunter showing that Farrar isn't Garmin's only sprinter. 3rd and 5th. If Farrar wasn't hurt, he would have owned with those 2 leading out.

Jeez, Petacchi the strongest by far.

He could be a potential Green Jersey challenger if he could somehow get over his horrible uphill allergy he seems to get frequently

petacchi is a beast... looking at the overhead shots he went early and no one could get close to him :S........ cavendish was very bad though he was blown away so early.... :S Hushovd is not so fast but the fight for green will be interesting.. petacchi can beat him and he can finish grand tours too :S...

Again I'll say it, Cav's dominance last year came down to his team, they delivered him to the line... he had a lot to do in that sprint.... and failed. He is very overrated.

I think Cav needs to get his old teeth back, they must have been the "source" of his sprint.:D

Geez, Ale jet went so early and just blitzed it. He just kept on going and did not fade!

Did anyone notice how Cav stopped pedalling as soon as he saw people on either side? He didn't even try to sprint for points, he looked more like a deer caught in headlights. Not only that but he just looked stiff and uncomfortable in the extreme.

I think his head space for sprinting has been shattered by his crash with Hausler. He could have the best legs in the world and I don't think it would make any difference, I think he's scared of another crash.

+1

Renshaw made it impossible for sprinters to beat him. HTC pulled back the break but only had 3 guys for the final km.

I wonder how much the cobbles yesterday zapped his speed. It toughen up the riders and his advantage being his top speed may have taken a dent.

I still expect him get 1 or 2 victories in this tour.
