Almeida looking so good for the Tour. UAE will more than likely finish 1-2 in this race. Mas and Bernal on an upward trajectory and Ritchitello a positive surprise. Skjelmose disappointing.

Pidcock really comes off as arrogant and selfish. If I was Ineos and given the way Rodriguez, De Plus and Bernal are riding I wouldn't send Pidcock to the Tour and would send him to the Vuelta instead.
Pidcock probably just said something like they'll start as co-leaders, and some people pile in to him, like they usually do. He just rode for Bernal, here, in this race, we were watching today.

Thanks, that's what I thought given that it's an Italian name. Nice bit of pacing by him at the end. Shame he wasted a bit of energy with that attack earlier.
It was more of a surge than a big attack, I doubt it took too much out of him. Didn’t use nearly as much energy as Almeida pulling all that time.

to me it seems a waste that Yates will have to ride for Pog. He looks strong enough to have his own team
He had a great result last year riding for Pogacar, don’t think he would have finished any higher as a team leader on another team. But I understand what you’re saying—would be more interesting and increase the competitive environment of the Tour if he were to ride for himself. We’re in an era of big money teams hiring super-domestiques who could win or have won (eg., Hindley) GTs.

Yeah, lets go with the "bad day" narrative. When others dropping they are just not good enough, but when Skjelmose gets dropped its because "he's flying too close to the sun" or just having an off day. How about telling it as it is - he just isn't as great and good a pure climber? That would be nice for once.

Stupid danish media!

This is like the sport of baseball in a way no? Where it seems only a few clubs buy all the best players. Should there be a limit as to how much a cycling team can spend?

this might sound crazy given the last couple of stages, but Ineos should try and keep it together for Pidcock to go for the stage tomorrow.
Stage 4 ...hasn't trained at altitude yet and stage finished over 2000m and he is never totally great on his first massive effort.
Stage 5 held on longer and finished ok. Improvement.

The shortened stage 6 is a 1+ hour effort (cx/mtb length) finishing with a 5.8km climb at 8.8% and 4km less than today. Should be perfect for him.

Before everyone overreacts to one bad day, here are some stirring historical images of Skjelmose being the only one trying to follow the big names on the climbs and his wings melting as proof of his daring courage;

It would be one thing if he was preparing to ride the Tour for the gc and using this as a training ride.

Couldn't be happier to see Almeida and Yates in good form!
Almedia, great multiple times today, and when he sat down and regrouped spun himself into a second place on the stage and finished very close. Bernal calmed down also to avoid disaster.
Yates really conservative and smooth, seeing him muscle the big ring at low RPMs was painful and impressive!! Del Toro only w semi explosion, @1:30 back he rode well..
