Letting Denifl go is crazy.

Yes it's cracy keeping Riders like Klöden (unmotivated) and Horner (old) and release a young, promising and combative riders.
Some strange decision(s) beeing made at the new team.

The only point I accept are missing results (on paper), but if you only look at this you have to fire 3/4 of the Leopard Trek + Radioshack squad. ;)

Wouter Weylandt's death is not a relevant part of the topic of this thread. Treat this as a statement from the moderators to drop it or face consequences.

I think the sky offer was a pre-contract, and a place on the gb 100% me squad for a year

Yeah I remember that's what you said but then other people thought you had to be british to be on the 100%me team. Maybe Saxo's offer was also more of a Designa Kokken deal?

yeh, 100% is british although im sure rules can be bent bearing in mind whos in charge. Theres also the an-post option like with Fenn.

I would guess so with Saxo, I think he probably needs an interim year on a mid level team. Sky are pretty chocked with neopros with Rowe, Puccio, Appollonio, Dowsett and Kennaugh only just entering his first full pro year.

Strange decisions? From a sports perspective, maybe, but not from a marketing perspective. I think the sponsors of the new combination team want some big shot names on the sheet (want to keep most big names from teams) so lesser known riders have to go. Do I think that this is constructive for the future? No, but it's reality. Names sell, for now and obviously money rules. (And why do you need great talents in the first place? (Argument for this can be found in other parts of the forum)).

Yes you are right, it seems there is almost no time for steadily development in the world of pro sports.
It also explains why they keep Voigt - no results in the last two years, but apparently a good enough domestique, who is well know (for sponsors) and almost a brand.
I still don't see, that this new team will get any better than 2011 (but it's maybe worth the sponsoring investments).

Could have something to do with the fact that he was Leopard-Trek's most valuable domestique on any terrain in the TDF.

I like Jens, but think there are a few alternatives by this time who can fulfil this tasks in the same way (when their season is planned for that).

Rohregger, Zaugg, Monfort (maybe also Pires) for example weren't any poorer at La Vuelta. Give them the time and freedom to prepare and concentrate on the tour and they won't fail! ;)

But now we are back again at the marketing point of view. How many more people know Jens compared to the other guys.

Yes but he certainly wouldn't be on the Tour team just as a billboard name. The man is only a "brand" because he has been (and still is) a superstar domestique.

I am worried for Christina Watches, they nave not signed anyone.

Ah, but they have: Rasmus Guldhammer and Alexander Kamp. Two very good riders, but nothing to really set the world alight.
Still, in terms of the Danish racing scene, these are big names.

Well to be fair they will also have a fair amount of young, promising riders next year such as King, Sergent, Busche, Nizzolo, Selig ...

He should just retire to be honest. Bit like Sastre. Seems to be missing the spark that's needed to win.

+1 and although he was rubbish in the GTs he did win the Vuelta al Pais Vasco, so he wasn't just a passenger.

Patsy Hendren said this
"One should retire when he's good enough to play on. Why now, people should ask, and not why not now"

Anders Lund back to Saxo Bank, Will Clarke to GreenEdge according to wort.lu.
Rüdiger Selig and Thomas Rohregger to stay with Radioshack. George Bennett (Trek-Livestrong) will also be part of the team, as will Jan Bakelants.

So pretty sure no Devolder, Van Avermaet or Jungels.

What a stupid career choice for Bakelants. Finally Gilbert leaves his team, and he moves to a team with the other big favourites for the Ardennes races (which I assume is where he'd like to shine).

Probably he got better offer?
Or he simply doesnt feel like he could take a free role?
This year he didnt shine much at the Classics.
