Cav wants to ride a Specialized and Sky use Pinarello and are not able to break the contract, and even if they could, they don't to either. I personally can't stand the fact that Sky use Pinarello with Shimano, instead of Campagnolo like Movistar use, bit that's just me.

I wonder who Omega Pharma-Quick Step (boy, what a mouthful!) will punt to make way for Cav, if indeed he does go there.

Could be a Mixed Blessing for Sky if they Don't get Cav anyway.. Half the Team wont be used up on Train Duties for the Big Tours... I guess they would like the Publicity of Course.. But Wiggo and Froome BH GT may be better off in a Cav Free Team..

If it's a bike issue, it can easily be solved. When Silence Lotto changed from Ridley to Canyon, Cadel wasn't very happy with the bike change as none of the bikes Canyon provided were very comfortable. He got to local Australian bike manafacturers, Teschner and Baum to put together a bike together with the equipment Ridley used but just sprayed it with the Canyon paint over the top to satisfy the sponsor. I don't see why Sky couldn't do that for Cav.

In a way, it does make sense that he is going to OPQS especially as so many of the HTC riders have gone to that team.

Then what is holding up Cav signing/announcing for Sky?
No idea, my guess would be it is more to do with image rights and Cavendish wanting control over them.
The kit and bike issue puzzles me as Chris Boardman rode Dolan bikes that were badged as Look when he rode for GAN.

It all needs to be done and dusted by the 20th Oct and TBH I'm bored of the whole saga.

I don't see what the big deal is about the bike if the goes to Sky; just buy him a Venge in the shop and repaint it with Pinarello written on it. Didn't riders use to do that all the time? Sure the "hardcore" fans will know what bike it really is, but the july tv fan will only see the Pinarello.

The fact that your avatar now has a sky dog with rainbow bands means you clearly do care as you will look quite silly if he doesn't sign for sky!:D;)

did the gb squad have sky logos on their kit.. yup..

but no, i really dont care. It would be kinda funny if Sky told Cav to sling his hook and there ended up being a mad scramble for him.

First time poster but long time reader here (don't hold that against me). Surely the delay is simply that Sky will want to pull out all the stops in Announcing Cav, which i imagine would include a press conference with Cav present pulling on a Sky WC jersey, just like footbal signings do for their new clubs. This can't be done until Cav has raced his last race for HTC as he would want to honour HTC and sky wouldn't want a big press conference announcing his signing and then the next weekend have lots of pics of him still in HTC colours. Sky will want maximum exposure when they announce so they aren't going to do it by a press release but are waiting to do it with all the bells, whistles and as many TV cameras as they can.

He wouldn't be allowed to wear a sky jersey to next year, HTC is still his employer until Jan 1 2012 where Sky will become his employer and he will be allowed to where his Sky WC kit.

Don't give me that bs, your account is TeamSkyFans so clearly it wasn't because they had the logo on their jersey. ;)

hmmm, why did you change what you said in your initial post because you originally admitted that you did the rainbow bands on their for another reason?

The thing is what happens to Eissel? If Quickstep have a full roster it makes things difficult for him.

But I still think Cav goes to Sky not that I particularly care anymore.

He also announced he had decided on his team 2 weeks after finishing the Tour, at this point most of the HTC crew hadn't signed for OPQS.

Guess we'll know in 17 days time if not sooner.

From the front page - Joost Posthuma is said to be the next signing for the new GreenEdge team, according to De Telegraaf.

Oh man Cancellara's classics team looks worse and worse. It's interesting though that Posthuma was never mentioned as one of the riders being at the end of their contract. If it's true I don't get why they only gave him a one-year contract, he's a very valuable rider ... maybe he had an option for another year but chose not to take it. Good signing by GreenEDGE if it is true

I think Cancellara will go to Riis again next year for some reason... Despite still being under contract.

Cancellara once said in the past that he didn't want to ride for someone like Johan Bruyneel because of his dubious reputation.

As opposed to Riis? :p

He was talking more of reputation during their career as team manager and not their cycling career I suppose. Because Bruyneel never tested positive. He also refused to ride for Lefevre for example.

According to this article he has "confirmed" that he will ride with RadioShack but he merely said he is under contract with them until 2013.

But maybe he will re-shift his focus now. He was dethroned as king of the classics and king of the ITT and both times honoured the title by giving a proper fight. Time is running out slowly but surely and he still wants to win Liège and Lombardy. Maybe now is the time to start on that project, since he doesn't have a real team for the classics anymore. I reckon Klemme will be RadioShack's leader for P-R and Flanders next year!

the new ig markets rankings have been issued, and in the details of which riders improved it states..

"The Tour de la Wallonie Picarde/Circuit Franco-Belge was one of two races carrying points towards the IG Markets Pro Cycling Index this week, and it was an interesting one for Australian fans, particularly those tracking developments at GreenEDGE. RadioShack’s Robbie McEwen took the overall, along with two of the four stages, while Chris Sutton helped himself to another stage – both riders are headed towards the Aussie start-up outfit next season."

error, or slipup..

My Speshy sense is telling me that QSOP is going to dump the Merckx bikes in favor of a return to Specialized. No way Tony Martin rides a Merckx TT bike.

Also going to guess that Specialized drops Astana, as they tried to last year. Maybe that's where Merckx will go.

No way does Quick Step move away from Eddy Merckx' bike brand.

Martin can camo-tape his old TT bike like a lot of people do.

Speaking of calling things...

Omega Pharma-Quick Step will no longer ride Eddy Merckx bikes next year and it is said that it will ride Specialized, at the demand of time trial World Champion Tony Martin.
