At the same time... Quick Step picked him up when he looked like a star in the making. Caisse took a cut-price punt on him after he bombed on Quick Step, but when somebody's only failed once, you can always chalk it up to bad management, motivation or just that the rider's style didn't mesh with the team's. By this point, however, we've seen Rujano's motivation crash through the floor several times. We've seen him underachieving chronically for years, only occasionally showing the amazing talent we know he has.
I'm saying, Quick Step should perhaps not have been so hasty about him in 2006, and Caisse were gambling on him in 2008. But by 2013, he's not a prospect or an unknown quantity worth a punt anymore, he's an incredibly talented but unreliable journeyman.
