Horrible  No one hits top form at the Ardennes and keeps it for the Giro so he will be sub par in one, which i guess will be the ardennes as sky care more about the Giro (italian part of sponsor and all that).

If he goes to Sky it is clearly for the money and nothing else.

Even at Movistar he is given leadership/shared leadership on all races he enters except the Tour and can choose his goals pretty much freely riding races like the TdS and the canadian classics preparing for the Worlds.

From what I've been told, he will be Porte's right hand man at the Giro. Whilst also targeting the Ardennes.

Good move?

That has to be a joke,Porte's right hand?:D Costa won't help anyone he is a selfish b*tch(i like him very much tho :D)

If he wants money, yes.

Sporting wise, a bit doubtful.

Doubtful? I won't be that conservative, its awful . . . unless we factor in subjects to be discussed on another forum ofc

If he wanted to ride the giro next year, he could lead Movistar there, or any other team offering him a contract. . .

If true, which I'm sceptical about, then I'd give it a year before he wants to leave. Like the previous comments have said, he'd be covered in almost every race, bar maybe the Ardennes. At least at BMC he would be able to lead a a GT, especially with cadel nearing retirement.

I am thinking that there should be more to the offer than money alone. Surely had Sky only offered money, Costa would chose a team like BMC.

So it depends what races are offered and whether Sky will follow up on their promises.

Who ever joins Sky is just a helper, they have there 3 GT leaders and each one has a lieutenant except Porte for the Giro so Costa is perfect.

Our point is more that he wouldn't want to join them. I agree Sky need a lieutenant for Porte (although Cataldo might step up) but don't think Rui Costa will be the most loyal.

Costa is close to signing for Sky, very reliable source (my uncle)

And your uncle knows Costa personally or ... ?

Would be bit surprised, but then anything can happen.

Who do we expect to leave Sky this year?

Eisel
Hayman
Uran(Gone)
Zandio

Leaves 23 and I think they will go for a full 30 next year as they have struggled to fill spots for some races this year plus I think Wiggins will have a ceremonial year before retirement.

So 7 spots to fill? Earle, Costa, Langeveld, Seb Henao....who else?

Zandio is staying for one more year. Eisel signed 2 year extension last year as well..

Stannard was linked with move away though. Pate's contract is out too I think. Sutton possibly too and he could be gone very easily.

Henao's cousin is sure to join . Also Colombian reporter said Sky was intrseted in bringing 2 Colombians this year too.

It all makes sense now!!!

Sky have never ever got a decent result in Tour de Suiise. Now with Costa, they can actually do decently in this race afterall :D

Genius!

Add Deignan to that list, he has signed with Sky, its fairly common news at home.
Deignan has been having an awesome season with Unitedhealth-top 10 on GC in his last 4 tours(Gila, which he won, Cal, Beauce, and Utah). He's been at the WT level before so I think he'll slide right in nicely to help the leaders and maybe look for his own glory in US if Sky were to get invited to Colorado again or Cal/Utah.

Costa going to WHERE????

ohhh sh!t...........

the move was surely motivated by money- but career wise he's going to get the left overs from Froome, Porte & whatever he can get shared with Henao while being the maid in GTs ......

damn you SKY!!!

Cannondale takes Bettiol, Villela, Formolo and Mohoric(all 2-year deal). Bici source.

bunch of young guns! The depth of team is not very good so they have huge chances to develop imo.
