Yes, I think something had to change - it was no longer working, not for lack of effort. Apart from her first season at Scott-Sram in 2019, it's been a long time since we saw her at the sharp end consistently.

She is probably desperate to find a way onto the Olympic team and the only way that is going to happen (most likely) is by winning one of the World Cups before May 31, 2024.

And in other news, Bart's team KMC-Ridley have signed Canadian Gunnar Holmgren - aka the older brother of the Holmgren twins. To be honest, I think Trek have missed a trick by not signing him......he's getting better, and had some promising results (5th Paris Test event) - and think of the marketing opportunities with the 3 Holmgrens all on Trek.

In other rumours, according to Singletrack's MUTN podcast, Minnaar could be leaving Santa Cruz.......(Or in MTB media language, he could be off Santa Cruz)

16 year is a hell of a long time on the same team; I think Nino had been on the same team for almost as long.

Depressingly, the cycling media have ignored this; still nothing on this website..........the ignorance astounds me.

So both Junior XCO World Champions will be at Lidl-Trek.......I worry their MTB races will be few and far between. The sport can't afford to have it's promising youngsters cherry picked by road teams......

You do realize that it's the rider's choice. 🙄

Interesting. I wonder what most of the riders will think and if this will be seen as a positive or negative
I can imagine some maybe sitting it out........The XCO start loop has some reasonably wide parts before the forest; overtaking is possible there.

In other news, Luca 'Horsepower' has extended with Canyon CCLTV for 2024-26.......

I wonder if Luca's winter training includes developing better race sense and tactics

I take it you haven't read his social media? He didn't like advice from 'experts' on the internet.......

Saying that, when he won his first XCC in Nove Mesto in 2022, his numbers were impressive; I seem to recall rumours of road teams being interested.......obviously nothing has come of it.

Nope, I don't tend to follow socials. He always strikes me as one of those riders who tries to do it purely by brawn and who could benefit from improved race craft. But, that's for him to learn and explore 🙂

There's no doubt he has an incredibly powerful engine (he's not exactly a small guy)
