Do crits count as professional races? There was even some talk about Contador showing up.

ingsve said:
No, the UCI doesn't recognice crits as road races at all in any form.

Regardless of whether or not he would be allowed to participate, I highly doubt he would do it. He hasn't raced since the Tour and its widely known that that was the finish to his season. He certainly wouldn't risk the controversy of racing a crit now given the trouble he's already in...

Now that they were nr.12 on the UCI list without including Mosqueras points I think they have a very big chance of getting a ProTour license.
Personally I'm very happy about that. Aggresive team that is always attacking and besides the people that never forgive dopers I guess pretty much everyone is happy to see Ricco in the Giro or Tour.

Ya, right now they are looking pretty good. The only thing that could stop them is if they are completely incompitent at running the business side of things.

Il Cobra will win Il Giro next year(unless something bad happens). I'm calling it now xD

He was the best climber in the Giro dell Cera, but I'm sure he still is the best climber in next years Giro.

Sophistic you have the clinic whenever you want.
my hopes are that vacansoleil will do just il giro(eze working for ricco who will demolish everyone) and la vuelta(ricco working for eze who will be second behind contador).i don't think they can make all the 3 gts.but you can't pass le tour i guess.

The way they crushed the TOur of Britain, i think theyll have plenty of riders for breaks in the Tour. DOnt need a GC contender for every GT see HTC, Garmin. I know its a big step up to the Tour but theyll still do more than Milram Footon Cofidis did this year.

Giro focus just on Ricco- Climber
Vuelta focus just on Eze -
So like you said.

Tour throw all those great attacking never say die riders to all thos breaks. Also work for Bozic in sprints. Hopefully theyll get a stage win but if not, some of those riders are amazing break away guys and will just ride to the death, even when all the other break riders shake hands and go back into the peloton. That gets exposure.

Van Leijen and Hoogerland, famous names in the Dutch amateur circuit a few years back. I always wondered why they never became pro early. Well Hoogerland has his reputation as a charger against him. But Van Leijen? Nothing. Just overlooked, always.

Did have a lot more right to become pro then many Rabo-TT3 turned pro's...

Hmmm although I suppose it might strategically make a little bit of sense, it would never happen. First of all, the Tour is the biggest race in cycling regardless of how many on the forum prefer the Giro (myself included) or Vuelta. Riders will want to ride it, and you know that the sponsor would definitely want their team to try and get an invite.

Even then, they are such an agressive team with so many attackers they could definitely try to win some stages. And Ricco could target the GC if the ASO will let him in (doubt it).

this.

I'd really love to see Poels, Van Leijen and Hoogerland in the PT.
Ricco, despite disliking his personality is such a talent and makes races more entertaining.
The generally attitude of the team makes for good cycling.

Vancansoleil is Dutch, and Tour de France in Holland is a lot bigger than the Giro.

I would be more surprised not to see Riccò in Tour de France next year.
A Giro + Tour double, where he goes for the overall in the Giro and targets the major mountain stages in the Tour, especially Alpe d'Huez.

Riccò said 2 years ago: "Alpe d'Huez or podium? The Alpe d'Huez"

Vacansoleil has an interest to do well in the Giro from a marketing perspective. More holidays are sold in the spring (during the Giro) then during the Tour. That's why they really wanted to ride the Giro this year, and why the Giro will be top priority for their major stage racer Ricco next year (apart from the fact that he's Italian, of course). I wouldn't be surprised if they leave him out of the Tour squad.

It was the dutch championship in 2009 that got van Leijen an pro contract for sure. He was excellent at that race and finished 3rd iirc. While he rode for an amateur team.

Vacans team is good enough for 3 PT's.

I'd put Ricco on the Giro and Vuelta. I don't count on Eze racing next year.
During the tour bring Bozic for sprints and add a few of their excellent attackers. They'll get plenty of attention.
