Speaking in Bergerac on Friday, however, Nibali dismissed the idea that he would ride simply to avoid risks during the penultimate day time trial to Perigueux, suggesting instead, that he would look to add to his haul from this Tour.

“There won’t be a lot of risks tomorrow in the first place, because it’s a time trial and we’re riding alone. To honour my team, the race and this jersey, we must give it due importance and I’ll ride it like a leader,” Nibali said.

Nibbles means to win it

Nibali defeated Wiggins, Froome and Contador in GTs, unless staying in your bike it's not part of racing.

In that case we need to revise a lot of GT in the last hundred years.

There was a famous chess grandmaster who used to say "I never defeated a healthy opponent". :D
Bike handling skills don't seem to count as part of racing for some...

I pity you

As for Nibali - An okay performance. I do wonder what that long attack on the Hautacam took out of him, and how easy he was taking it on the corners.

Yes, poor Nibali having to push himself on Hautacam like that.

I've already observed you don't like him, but why are you writing more than 50% of your posts in the Nibali thread? You're just one of the whining haters who can't handle the reality: Nibali won the 2014 TDF and he beat Froome and Contador fair and square.

I wonder if he'll now try to rack up easy Giro wins, or feel like he needs to prove he deserves the Tour and try and fight Froome & Contador after this has now fallen in his lap.

I would fight for another for another Tour-victory. Why not? He already has won the Giro and Vuelta. I can imagine that he wants to beat Froome and Contador in a real fight. I can understand he's quite ****ed his win will always be put into the question: what if...

He's 29, and looks in the form of his life. He's getting better every year. Looks perfect to me to defend his Tour title in 2015.

Indeed :) He has all around talents and has now claimed what only 5 man have ever done; win all 3 GTs. It's an amazing achievement. I know he loves his home race, but now that he's won yellow he may love le Tour more :)

For sure. But he'll always do the Giro first so if he fails, it will be because he's done the Giro first.

yea, you know, cause like, it totally doesn't make sense that riding the giro will have an effect on your tour riding a month later... totally.
If he rides the tour again I so hope it will be after riding (and winning) the giro. That way we get another factor into the AC vs Froome vs Nibali debate

No, I do like him. He's a great rider and dominated this Tour. Best all round talent left in the race. The work and sacrifice to reach that level is immense. Years and years of effort.

He has not put a foot wrong.

He has the TDF title.

Now I would like to see if he can gain the reputation of being best rider in world

Plus there is another ONE MILLION dollar or euro on the line.:D

If there ever has been a PERFECTLY ridden Tour de France in the last few years, this must be it.
This was like the rule book on how to ride into perfection. Pure class all the way to Paris, not an half bad day or pedal stroke.

Immense win. DEAL WITH IT.

Already, however, thoughts are turning to next July, and Nibali's prospects of defending his title against the grand absentees from the final two weeks of this Tour, Alberto Contador and Chris Froome, as well as Giro winner Nairo Quintana.

"Why not? And there's Bradley Wiggins too, although I was sorry to read that he said he's aiming mainly for the track now," Nibali said. "But yes, why not have a grand battle between all of us next year?"

SKIP GIRO PLEASE!

Don't agree. I would say Nibali is best GT rider in world at this precise moment because nobody could beat him at Tour.

Which is wrong, because Quintana, for example, didn't ride this year's tour. What you can say is that he's the best from those who rode le Tour, apart from Contador and Froome, because we don't know how good he would perform be against them.
