Nibali looked on Friday better than I've expected. Not that the finishing kilometer is some strong indicator, but his positioning is revealing more than he's said before the race. He has some overall ambitions.

I was also surprised. I though he would be dropped on the final stretch. On the other hand, his TT was pretty decent, so he should be in a decent condition for this time of the year.

Meh, positioning is his forte. I've seen him brilliantly positioned even when not in shape.
Only Terminillo can tell us where he's at.

Nibali's tt doesn't say very much. He can pull off a decent prologue even if you kick him out of his bed hungover and in terrible shape. He needs to be good in order to do something in the mountains, Contador is exactly the opposite in this regard

If he wants something from this race, which he said he doesn't have to, the only chance is today. I think there is no way he can survive on Terminillo to a Contador attack.

He was dropped in Chieti when he won in '13, so I still think a podium is possible, but 4th or 5th is more likely.

wooohh vino will go postal!!!! sending nasty email to everyone, like last year. Today there's no team mate around Nibali. That won't sit well with Vino. Maybe this licensing thing finally got under everyone's skin. At least Fuglsang sparks some sunshine in PN.

You do realise that Nibali's numbers where equal to Froome from 2013 tour?

From the the average power outputs that he expressed (41 min above 450w) we can imagine an AT4 of at least 440W, equal to 6.98 w/kg, assuming a weight of 63 kg.

Impossible to say how it would have turned out with them in the end, but with his absolute domination of the competition Nibali has left the impression that the Sicilian would have won anyway.

Apparently without ever engaging in a full on effort, he seemed to play with his opponents on the climbs, often expressing powers between 6.00 and 6.3 w/kg (378-397 watts, assuming a weight of 63kg), never showing a decline in performance in the three-week race.'

Must be hard to accept the facts.
