So will Nibali still participate in the Giro now?
He just said on Rai's Radiocorsa that he want to arrive at the TdF in best condition - thus no Giro for Nibs this year.

Meaning he'll suck ass in every other race. People can praise him in his latest 2 races but his form was still underwhelming. Couldn't even follow Wellens

Watch the race on Sunday.

Yes he'll try something and he won't be good enough, form doesn't change in a few days.

If he is is as good or better than last year at the Tour, all suckage until then will be forgiven

Given that he somewhow sucked a bit more this year will we see him a bit better than last year's TdF as in the more you suck the better Le Tour?

Anyway, all clear. Can't wait for the big showdown come July.

Nibli will destroy the LBL with ease and take his first of 5 LBL victories.

No way, he probably will at best be a top 5. I doubt he will try to peak for anything before the Tour.

Vino attacks everyone is joking. :) He is a great Astana fan and hypes them all up a lot.
That being said I would love to see Nibbes win...I agree that probably won't happen, but hopefully he animates the race.

Nibali can take a minute on La Redoute alone. 30' on each of the following descents. The only question is if he will do a wheelie to celebrate when he crosses the line first, while the rest of the field is still climbing Nicolas.

More likely is that he'll come in 38th, only to talk afterwards how surprised by his own strength so early in the season he is.

When the Kazakh squad finally officially received the UCI’s communiqué, less than half a dozen reporters were present at the hotel-cum-health resort, situated in rolling pastureland on the outskirts of a dormitory town near Liege.

LOL, is this a mis-translation?

Not at all if one thinks of the dictionary definition.

cum
ko͝om,kəm/
preposition

combined with; also used as (used to describe things with a dual nature or function).
"a study-cum-bedroom"

Are your comments always gonna be these statements? Nothing more to contribute, kinda sad.

Have to agree, it's getting old. Vino, if you post serious things too, your hyping posts will be more enjoyable ;)

nah mate, I just try to be the counter weight to the scptical nature of most people, when it comes to Nibbles form.
A nuanced and balanced analysis would be that Astana goes ballistic 30++km from the finishing line and it might hold, or Valvere will sprint for th victory with Kwiat.

Then again, there are so many uptight "unbiased" (lol  ) people like yourself here that I feel like it is my duty to make this forum less serious, so that the people without your keen knowledge of the sport can feel welcome, and at home

You need to tone it down some, though, so about 50% think you're serious and the other 50% trolling, and do that only 50% of the time and be actually serious but controversial the other 50%. Works wonders.

Anyone who takes it seriously has even more issues I would think !

That's an inaccurate prediction. In fact, take the sum of Vino's LBL victories, double it and and add it to Nibali's eventual career LBL win count and, as time will prove, you'll still be short of 5.

Re: Nibali discussion thread

Nibali: “It’s completely different to a Grand Tour here”...“You need a bit of invention, a bit of ingenuity and experience, as well as the luck to find the perfect day, whereas a Grand Tour is all calculations and stress. Here, you attack, you follow, you accelerate. I enjoy it. I race precisely for this.”

His "attack" was incredibly weak. We'll see in Romandie. Nowhere to hide.

Re: Nibali discussion thread

I think Nibali was decent enough today.I don't think he'll show to much before Le Tour.Last year he was in monster form in TDF,there is no reason that this year he'll not show up on a comparative level.

Not surprised about Nibali's performance. Besides the obvious fact of him not being in top shape yet (why should he be, more than 2 months away from TdF?), those short and steep climbs are far from ideal for a rider like him.

If I had to guess, I would say that he is at 70/80% of his peak form.

Last year, Nibali was awful all year and then showed by far his best climbing ever at the Tour. There really is no reason to expect anything different this year if his only target is once again the Tour. Never change a winning formula.

It's still the same as last year, maybe a bit better but in romandie he wasn't dog *** aswell. It's all for 1 peak.

That's the kinda rider nibali has become. He'll still attack when he can but only 1 peak.
