Vuelta 2013 route

The only two upsides from my point of view are:
- decisive stages right to the end of the last week instead of that Basque country crap they pulled of 2 years ago
- the big mountain stage on the Pyrenees. At least a proper mountain stage which is not just an uphill finish.

Don't get too excited. Call me a pessimist, but I'm predicting a monumental fiasco in that stage. I hope I'm wrong.
I need the profiles before saying anything, but it seems there are a couple of mountain stage, even if we can't expect much by them in this kind of overall route. Still, it's better than expected, isn't it?

I refer to your first sentence. ;)

But let's say I'm a tiny bit more positive than I was 5 days ago.

Still, if the Peyragudes stages turns up to be a good, proper mountain stage, we should be even more angry at Unipublic's inferiority complex when it comes to mountains in Spain. How can we criticise those who think making a proper mountain stage in Spain is impossible, when Unipublic is constantly acting as if that was the case by planning proper mountain stages only when they move into France?

I think Envalira would be quite a detour on the stage to Peyragudes, especially if the organization would try to avoid doing more climbs than necessary.

Wait, I mean doing more climbs than the bare minimum to get from A to B.

Read my last post. They might climb Envalira not in that stage but in the previous one.

All we know is Envalira is the Cima Alberto Fernández.

Envalirafrom Puymorens before Canolich? That sounds likely. Let's see what's between Envalira and Canolich

In that case Creueta-Puymorens-Envalira more or less writes itself for the first part of the stage, surely?

Remember there is tunnel to avoid Creueta and this is Unipublic :D

The only half-way interesting mountain pass in a stage not finishing in a MTF, last year's Mirador de Ezaro (2kms at 14%), is not included after all.

Of course it isn't. Riders might even think about doing something there!

Wiggins probably thinks the presentation is a bad horror movie

He doesn't really care. Not doing Vuelta.

Henao's Sky designated leader, he's enjoying this I think ;) :)

Joaquim Rodríguez ‏@PuritoRodriguez
Espectacular @lavuelta de este año!!! Dura no... Lo siguiente!!!!!!!

what bothers me is that most of the people in my TL seem to think lots of mtf = a good race. What they don't understand is that it was good last year because Alberto attacked a lot. And this year he won't race it. So it will be Jrod all the way and there isn't a thing that's exciting about seeing Jrod sprint away with 1k to go every other freaking stage.

At least we have three mountain stages worthy of that definition.
