Yeah but the Sivakov group looks strong. Decathlon with 3 guys? If he doesn't catch them on this climb he's definitely in throuble. Van Gils looks good tho, but just not a strong team here (I don't really understand why).
Seems to be a front group of 7-8 riders with Sivakov and 3 Dechatlon (Berthet, Staune-Mittet and one more) about 30 seconds ahead of Van Gils, Pidcock and Wellens

Piddler and Van Gils suffering from having bargain bin teams, unfortunately there are about a billion Movistar/AG2R/UAE riders around

I mean pidcock went to Q36.5 so he should expect that, Van Gils went to Red Bull and got a team worse than Lotto around him.

Van Gils himself looks really strong tho.

And it looks like Aleotti was in the front group cause he's riding for Van Gils now.

Sivakov should not drop the Decathlon guys. Well I guess if Van Gils is actually coming that close he should.

UAE just not strong enough. Everyone but Sivakov is gone. Perfect for Van Gils if he gets up to Sivakov before the top. Aleotti isn't that far either.

Somehow turned out about as well as it could've for Van Gils, they both descend well so should make it, no idea what happened to UAE, would've loved to see earlier coverage.

Rivera doing the sneaky 'not close enough to be asked to take a pull'.

Can't blame him for that of course but he should probably pull if they still have a gap after the descent. Best chance at getting the stage.

They all just dropped when Van Gils attacked. Wellens is expected, he's just not a good climber, Arietta and Soler is just disappointing.

Arietta was hole the stage in break. And when Sivakov attacked and joined g1. Arietta worked great for Sivakov

I did not know that, that's fine then. But soler is a bit disappointing. Well it's classic Soler I guess, you never know when he's gonna be good or not. In the end Sivakov is their only really good climber here.

There's a golden kilometre gimmick tomorrow too apparently, UNO-X seem to have pulled a masterstroke as they've taken Kristoff to a race with seemingly 0 other sprinters and 3 possible sprint stages, with the last one a bit of bizarre parcours so maybe.

Van Gils on the limit, probably the decisive moment for GC this week. He needs to come back now or he's done.

Ah the typical Ruta del Sol sprint wins. Everyone goes to Algarve when you can get free wins in Spain at the same time haha
