Samamba may disagree, but I wouldn't say so. Stannard was the smartest, van Gils just by far the strongest. Not too much they could do about it.

I don't disagree at all. Nothing compared to Stannard vs. Quick Step.

Well I disagree with your last sentence yeah cause a race doesn't just exist out of the last 4km.

sure, in hindsight they could have tried to keep it together instead of attacking from 50k out, and then potentially make use of numbers in the end, but I honestly don't think it would have increased their chances much. Nor does it sound like a good pre-race tactic to me.

You can't really say in hindsight to me when i questioned what they were doing multiple times while it was happening but ok

Van Gils was clearly the strongest today, however, he'll need a strong team to support him against the endless attacks from UAE riders in the following stages.

Couldn't find a proper profile, but the final part (a parking lot) looks flat on Google Maps. So it should be sth like ~1k at 8-9%, and then 200m to the line.

Entertaining stage. Looked a brutal day with savage steep short climbs winding through the towns and villages.

I was once in Frigiliana during a school trip to Málaga. A quite breathtaking village with not a single non-white house.

Nerja is worth visiting too.
Algarve and Andalucia are really beautiful races. Shame we don't have a longer feeds (at least for the views).

Van Gils already having to do it himself. Pidcock in his whel. Think a group with Sivakov and some Decathlon riders is in front

Van Gils have attacked with Pidcock on his wheel

Yeah but the Sivakov group looks strong. Decathlon with 3 guys? If he doesn't catch them on this climb he's definitely in throuble. Van Gils looks good tho, but just not a strong team here (I don't really understand why).

Piddler and Van Gils suffering from having bargain bin teams, unfortunately there are about a billion Movistar/AG2R/UAE riders around
