Gesink did a good bit of work on the climb tbf, but that's disappointing from Oomen and Bouwman

I was just about to write that the first act was over, but Jumbo rode so slow that it allowed for counter attacks.

Problematic when Ineos, Bahrain and Movistar all have 3 leaders
Roglic down to 2 helpers, and instead of putting on the pressure they look at each other, *You fancy pulling or should I?"

If there's already someone willing to try his luck, the GC teams should take advantage of it.

The gap slowly coming down, but I don't think it's a bad sign.
Means the attrition's on.

with 2 people max per team and the size of the group I doubt that cooperation will be great, but then there shouldn't be strong teams to chase in G3

though I do wonder who is chasing there

Edit: ah, Jumbo. Ok. seems somewhat strange, but ok

More a controlling tempo than a chasing one by Jumbo. With Haig there, I wouldn't give them more than 5 minutes for free.

Maybe there will be a DSM TTT should G1 and G2 merge, but other than that it will probably only be Trentin doing the work

The gap will probably expand once the groups ahead of the peloton merge.
The terrain allows so and I guess it's better that way for the GC battle.

If they give them 5 minutes Jan Polanc will be in the lead by 3 minutes. And he's not a bad GC rider, recently more of a helper for Pogacar but he has some good GC results.

It was always DSM's plan to have 5 riders in the break, their saddles have been adjusted several months in advance and are of crucial importance when considering the profile of the next part of the stage.

Polanc is more of a known quality, and he is not a long term threat.
